I admired Pope John Paul II, I don't seem so particularly fond of Pope Benedict, cant really give a reason why other than a new face leading a billion Catholics.

A holy cleric is not defined as holy by people of other beliefs, but by the followers of the belief system.
It is obvious that a cleric of Hindusim would not be holy to believers of Islam or a Buddhist cleric holy to believers of Mormanism, but it does not change the fact that they are holy clerics to their own followers.

Well it's early in his papacy, it will be interesting to see how he continues to lead the church .. as for being a 'Holy Man', I believe there are virtues that place him in that category.

I voted no.
I understand that the role of Pope is supposed to be a successor of St.Peter. But I see the Pope as more of an elected official. He's a head of state. (Vatican city)
The Catholics believe that the position of Pope was mandated from this passage in the bible.

Matt.16:18-19: "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Ha, he is no holy man!!
Blaspheme!
He is led astray brothers and sister, look at the gold around his neck and hands... And the words that he talks, he is a hypocrite and a wolf in sheeps clothing.
Yashua would slap him if he trodding in the flesh today!! (spiritually speaking of course).
That pope, gw bush, queen e and any prime minister that has been called a leader, has to bow to His Majesty Haile Selassie I, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. The one true King.

The pope is most certainly not a holy man. The Papacy is perhaps responsible for the world's worst atrocities known to man, nuff said

The Pope is just a human being who seems to believe he is exalted as 'God on Earth' which I find rather insulting.
