The first recorded incident regarding Alexander the Great and UFO's was recorded in 329BC. Alexander decided to invade India and was attempting to cross the river Indus to engage the Indian army when "gleaming silver shields" swooped down and made several passes over the battle.

These "gleaming silver shields" had the effect of startling his cavalry horses, causing them to stampede. They also had a similar effect on the enemies' horses and elephants so it was difficult to ascertain whose side these "gleaming silver shields" were on. Nevertheless, after exiting the battle victoriously Alexander decided to not proceed any further into India.

I remember reading about "UFO sightings" in ancient Egypt. Here's a link.

how cerdible is the source. funny its in India in the Mahabarata they talk of flying chariots helping them in battle. Maybe India is where we should be looking for the orgins of recorded ufos.

There was a whole legendarium that grew up around Alexander the Great in the Middle Ages, including that he was the son of Apollo and found the Fountian of Youth. Most stories about him should be taken with a grain of salt.

I've also read or seen somewhere about his sightings of UFO's. He also searched for Atlantis to conquer it as well. I don't recall the name but I've seen a show recently that describes the sightings of Christoher Columbus and his crew on that voyage in 1492. IIRC they had a log or someones diary where the information was found.

Christopher Columbus is reported to have spotted a UFO the night before his crew spotted land in the New World, and he duly recorded it in his log:

Makes you wonder if the 'aliens' knew beforehand of the import of the 'discovery' shortly to follow?

Also makes me wonder about time travel: if I had the ability to time travel, I would spend years going back to all the major historical moments and checking them out (and trying to be unseen). Maybe the lights were our ships from the future with time-travelling tourists...

Time-travelling tourist? This gives me an excuse to post one of my favourite pieces of modern art.

"Hey! Hey! Mr Alexander the Great! Give us a picture!"
