most of you have probably seen the Saquarra Bird at one point or another
linked-image
found in Egypt in 1891 it was long thought to just be a carving of a bird........thing is a plane gliding expert made a model of it and it actually flew

not only did it fly, it flew as well as any glider made today.............could the Egyptians also have used it as a glider to carry people ?

if so where did they get such technology ?

on top of that new evidence, i saw this

linked-image
now im sure most of you have seen this before, just as i have

the new evidence comes from the show i saw last night

a German man that spent his life builing jet planes for the German military built a scale model of this item..........then he flew it........thats right, he took it out to an airfield and flew it by remote control

seems to lend great creedence to the idea that these 2 objects are ancient flying machines

only after he added a theorized tailplane, without which it was completely unstable...

thats totally true.........but to me the original did look like a tail piece was broken off.......though that could just be what i wanted to see

what about the other plane ?...............that thing flew for sure as is

I saw this several months back.. To be honest I dont remember the guy who made the scale mock up making any alterations to the design, I thought he stuck to actual proportions and dimensions but I could be wrong. One thing for sure.. the delta wing design makes a terrible glider, it must have propulsion and like Pax said its very unstable and is what makes for a great fighter jet because response is quick with this design. The guy added propulsion in the form of a prop if I remember correctly which is way different than a glider, because it adds thrust.
I do remember thinking that it was amazing this thing did fly even though the guy made alterations to the design. hmm.gif

I missed that segment of the program, so I can't say... BTW, did they change the shape of the 'wing'? it looks much to flat and squared to be an efficient airfoil, just wondering...

i dont think it was changed

when the glider guy built his larger scale model i believe the 1st attempt (with no tail-wing) was totally true to form as best as he could make out........i do recal him stating that both leading and trail edges of the wing had aerodynamical qualities which meant it should fly

of course as you pointed out, without the added tail it failied at flight miserably

well Ive not seen the bird thing before but its no surprise to me that some bloke made a model of a bird and it flew (though obviously not like a bird....), many models of birds fly. The other one looks like a figure with its gob wide open and its arms drawn onto the cape its wearing..the one on the right is a bloke lying down and catching flies rather than an aeroplane. I doubt the flying version of it was an exact copy, and probably made a bit a more aerodynamic. " I think what they meant to build..."

it kinda sounds like youre mixing the 2 models together

the bird model glider was made to a larger scale but no propulsion was added at all, it stayed a glider

the model of the golden "ship" was also made to exact larger scale but yes it had a prop added to the front........but i believe it was assumed from the start that the golden model must have had propulsion.......i believe it was never seen as a glider

It looks like it could only glide, there is no propulsion that would keep it in air. Gliding probably wouldn't be a good way of travel, plus it looks too bulky.

as a glider, I ask the question: how would the Egyptians have gotten it into the air? the only practical way I can think of is push it off a cliff... ohmy.gif

without evidence the makers of the 'gold ship' could build engines, adding them to make it fly bothers me... not nearly as plausible as the Saquarra Bird, that 'may' have had a tailplane (yeah, I saw where the tail was chipped, I wish they had shown both sides in detail) with which it could have flown...
Torchwood
I assumed that wooden bird is quite small, though the pic doesnt give much sense of perspective. THerefore if it does have aerodynamic properties they could make it fly by throwing it. The other one would only fly if you thought the word fly meant "drop like a stone".

Or a Pyramid ...... laugh.gif
Case closed ..now we know what the Pyramids were built for thumbsup.gif

Anything will fly if you throw it hard enough. Toasters for example...
