This is getting really annoying
I cant use commas colons semicolons etc without this Google crap coming up with a little search option at the bottom of my Firefox browser
Any ideas as to which program is causing this and to which level of hell I can banish it?

Do you have Mozilla? I do...and I am having the very same problem, but it doesn't happen to often.

Hmm that one is a doozie.
Got any Microsoft Office background processes going on you can close? Tray icons or toolbars on the desktop? Just a guess, maybe it has something to do with the symbol hot keys in office.
Another possibility is the Firefox apostrophe bug, but I couldn't tell you why it would prevent you from typing other punctuation marks. It would explain the search box coming up though...
