Out of curiosity, why? Many users post videos anyway, so it's just as well that we can embed them.

It'd be annoying imo. Least with links you can choose not to click them and not lose minutes of your life on crud...

They wouldn't play automatically......You'd still have to press play to see it.

Allowing the addition of streaming external videos or sounds to posts or blogs would require enabling HTML code which is a big security risk. You can add video or sound files as attachments, but anyone viewing would have to download the files in order to play them.

It's not about it being wasteful or annoying; it will leave the forum prone to malicious attacks.
