Man kept contact lenses in for a year

A Chinese man had to have his contact lenses surgically removed after he did not take them out for a year.

Liu, 40, started to wear contact lenses a year ago and never took them out because he found it difficult.

"I only have some eye drops for when they feel uncomfortable," he told Chutian City News.

Liu recently felt his eyesight was getting worse, so he bought another pair of lenses and wore them on top of the old ones.

But when his eyesight still didn't improve, he took another startling decision.

"I put a pair of used disposal contact lenses over the other two pairs in my eyes. By then, I was wearing three pairs of lenses," he said.

By the next day, Liu's eyes had reacted badly to his DIY eyecare and he finally sought medical attention.

A doctor was shocked to find the first lenses had grown into his eyes and surgery was needed to take them out.

OMG .... .... Ohh ... that makes my eyes hurt. My goodness, so careless ...

And all that could of been avoided if he whore glasses

How lazy can some people be? He would rather destroy his eyes than take out
the contact lenses? Why didn't he just wear glasses? Some people are just asking
for trouble when they do things like this.

You'd think that after the first pair the eye doc might have noticed.

Doc says to patient : this looks pretty bad your going to have to keep an eye on that......DOH

I don't think he knew the dangers of keeping them in...

I don't see how that is possible. I've worn contacts in the past & one thing the doctor made crystal clear to me is the proper care & WEARING of lenses. Also contacts that are on the market today are disposable, most says to wear only for ONE WEEK. That says it all in the product discription. Also it's the patients responsibility to read the literature enclosed. His bad, not the doctors.

I, too, had problems wearing contacts cause of allergies, cronic dry eyes & astigmatism. I can't wear them any longer. Bad thing is, I'm not yet eligible for laser surgery either. I've been to the best eye specialists in California & I won't be a candidate til I'm in my 70's or older. Oh, well.

He might of known but he didnt care this dude probably works for like 8 pennies an hour so I doubt he had time to fool with them if he found it difficult. Lol he had to work hard if he wanted food. It makes my eyes water but I must salute someone who let plastic grow into there eyes and didnt complain for a year.

A big salute to stupidity from me, what would we do with out stupid people. I doubt if he was a poor farming man or lived on 8 pennies a day the last thing he would be think of is, should I get the colored contacts or the clear lol . Damn this guy put three pairs in his eye's, wait a second here, I know what happened. He bought over the counter contacts and couldn't read the little box hmmm I wonder why. DOH

I guess he was thinking that if he just kept piling them on he'd end up with X-Ray vision or something? Then he could go hang out by the girls locker room! He wouldn't be able to blink but, then again, he probably wouldn't want to either!

I never take my contacts out unless they rip or something. I usually go a month or two with them in or as long as they'll last. I know it's bad but I don't give a damn.
