Oooooh! I LOVE Johnny Cash! I used to have his folsom prison record, but lost it when I moved sad.gif. It's hard to pick a favourite song, but I think I have to say Gods Gonna Cut You Down. Not from a religious perspective, I think it has a good ring to it, and great lyrics. He had a great voice.

Ring of fire! Top tune! Really sums up the saturday morning feeling after having a few beers and a curry the previous night.

Ah yes ... 'The Highwayman' w/ The Highwaymen ... Great Tune!

"I fly a starship across the Universe divide.
And when I reach the other side,
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can.
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again.
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain;
But I will remain.
And I'll be back again,
And again and again and again and again."

I grew up listening to country and he was an intrinsic part of that scene during the sixties and seventies. Younger people who are used to pop artists like Shania Twain and Faith Hill don't realize how it was back then. We were listening to stuff like Ring of Fire and Long Black Veil as if they were new songs. IMO, it was basically because country wasn't terribly viable commercially back then. Country people were tight and didn't buy albums as readily as Rockers.

The aforementioned along with Folsum Prison Blues and Sunday Morning Comin' Down were/are some of my favorites. He was a unique artist, that's for sure.

I never met him. A neighbor of ours here in the country, saw him live back in the day at a very small venue and recalls it vividly when asked about it. My Uncle was in the Army at a Fort in Texas and was on leave for the weekend. A friend of his had a jeep and they were going to town. Friend explained they had to pick up another guy and carry him to town also. They did and Uncle's friend introduced him to Johnny Cash. Of course Johnny wasn't famous then.

Johnny Cash and June Carter both picked the actors to play as them. I could hardly tell the difference between johnny's voice and juaquin phoenix's voice wub.gif

When I was little (about 5) I saw him and June Carter-Cash play at Sea World. It's one of the few memories of my childhood I have.

This man is a music god. I love all of his music from begining to
end. It is just about the only music i listen to. Some of my favorites are
"Hey Porter", "Guess Things Happen That Way", "Folsom Prison Blues",
"I Walk The Line", and "Give My Love To Rose".

One of my biggest regrets in life is I was never able to see him preform live
