The mysterious lights in the sky over Archway, Islington, London. The strange lights actually caused panic.



DOZENS of mysterious lights were spotted hovering in the sky above Archway - spreading panic among residents below.

Unidentified flying orange objects stopped traffic and left residents staring skyward in disbelief at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Islington police received four calls within a matter of minutes.

Witness Alix Mc Alister, 34, a market stall trader from Bredgar Road, Archway, said: "I just picked up my son from nursery in Bredgar Road. I had just come out of the door when I noticed what was going on in the sky.

"There were a group of them - 10 to 15 of them moving together. My first impression was that they reminded me of a squadron of aeroplanes in formation. But they didn't have a proper formation and they were all moving at the same speed.

"I thought for a while that something was happening in the centre of London. Bombs and planes crossed my mind. But I realised very quickly that they didn't look like any aircraft I'd seen before.

"They were coming from the north and moving south. And then they kind of stopped and they were hovering. There was no sound. They seemed to fade away and I saw more coming and then they stopped. It lasted about 10 minutes."

Islington police informed Contact International UFO Research about the sightings. Soon after another witness contacted the Oxford-based organisation, which is devoted to solving the mystery of UFOs, and described what he saw.

A spokesman for Contact International said: "He told me he was picking his daughter up from school and he saw many people looking up in the air. Traffic had stopped and people were staring.

"He said he saw between 12 and 15 orange lights travelling across the sky. Then they would stop and then they went upwards.

Okay i'll ask ....Is disclosure under way ?

It seems there has been alot of UFO sighting recently, withing the last 2 months or so. Maybe disclosure is on its way, or not

I was thinking the UFO might be those pesky orange latterns but... I wasn't there so I don't really know.

Multiple orange blobs floating with a white plane following.

As I walked along the street I noticed people staring and pointing at the sky. I turned around and saw numerous orange/red lights moving in the same direction but in non-uniform formation. They were high in the sky and were followed by a white plane which appeared to be escorting them, it was without doubt moving 'with' them. Each orange blob of light had no flashing lights on it, they didn't seem like helicopters or planes. The sky was quite dark and I could not see if the objects were bigger with red lights mounted on them or if they were just floating lights. They moved slowly and not in a way that seemed incongrous to modern technology. I thought they may be hot-air balloons but they seemd too bright and too high.

People in the street were watching the lights and laughing about 'aliens'. The lights then became obscured from view by the tall buildings. I hurried home to watch the lights from my balcony on the 4th storey but by the time I got home (5mins) they had gone. A helicopter was circling the area and did so for 15 mins. Probably a mundane explanation for this but it seemed very strange.

I am a not a believer in UFOs at all, I am of sound mind, 30 years old and someone I mentioned this to told me to report it to you.

I am sure this was the same thing that was on the local news the other night (London Tonight), if I recall it was debris from space.

There have been massive waves of UFO sightings in the past that have never lead to disclosure. Probably just an uptick of activity after a few years of relative quiet (at least in the media).

there's been a TON of sightings lately... and Lottie just made me think... could it all be related to the Chinese Satellite blowup test?

when someone says their of sound mind always worries me!! MUST CONFORM MUST CONFORM!!! sorry! i would love to of seen what was in the sky, your right though pesky lanterns was what i was thinking,middle class lantern lovers.
Only takes 1 to start a trend and the rest must follow.

Islington, you say? Were there any particularly good parties going on at the time? Cause it might just have been some alien visitors coming to meet nice women and take them back into space...
