Full Version: Hi-Sasquatch- Subterranean cavern homes
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Unexplained Mysteries > Cryptozoology, Myths and Legends
EnigmaSeeker
Hi all- This is my first Thread in The Crypto Forum. I thought as a neat first Thread, I'd put out this Theory: In the Many Attempts by explorers and Researchers etc. to find evidence of creatures alternativley known as Bigfoot/Sasquatch and others- it seems relatively little time has been spent trying to locate the more primary dwelling area of theses creatures. Not just the overall region they inhabit and transgress. For a long time now ive seriously considered they may actually spend a fair amount of time- Underground- perhaps even as a basic sleeping/home location. While no doubt the overall areas many bigfoot type creatures the world over are said to inhabit have more than enough secluded space and sheer vastness to live/hide (Forests, Mountains, etc.)- it would make their elusiveness all the easier to spend much time in the many underground caves and cavern system nearer the surface- in countless already wilderness areas- (many little known and seldom explored) the world over. As Humanoid/hominids its very reasonable that they would prefer a more secure, stable shelter or dwelling perhaps even more permanent ones ( just as our own - not to different- early ancestors did up until not to many Millenia ago). This overall theory could no doubt be applied to many other Crypids and related mysteries animals- But I feel especially so in the cases of potential unknown hominids. As well as particular parts of North America, and Prime Bigfoot Country in the Pacific Northwest. If im not mistaken , much of this region(the more mountainous parts at least) is actually know for its caverns and cave systems. This is a proposal Ive heard little if any mention of elsewhere. So for now id like to put this out there and see what all of you think. I feel Its a very tantalizing theory and worthy of good discussion. I look forward to all of your responses.

PS: I am new here and have just recently registered. I am very glad to be here and expect to spend much of my time here on the Cryptozoology, Myths, and Legends forum, as it has been one of my main passions for many years.I would like to say that first and foremost I am A Believer;- or at the very least inclined to be a Believer. I also hope that many of you on this Forum and indeed on the site are if anything openminded people( ....Hey the sites about Unexplained mysteries,- and if you like these, then that must be why we are all here- and the two pretty much go together, right...) but I would like to also just say that already this seems like a really nice place , with a great bunch of people- so I hope to personally come to find out that no matter if we are Skeptic, Believer, in between or other- that this place where friendly, courteous people come together to discuss things in a fun and comfortable way where one can be both serious and laid back- and most of all that everyone is respectful of one another and there ideas. I havent always found this on other sites, but i Have High hopes for this one. Looking forward to hopefully getting to know you all and having some great conversations. original.gif
See you out there.

Sincerely,
Jon

If Bigfoot exists, it is reasonable to assume that it might use caves as shelter. The people to talk to would be the National Speleological Society, who obsesce over exploring and mapping and cataloging every nook and cranny of every cave they can locate. Their reports are very detailed and scientific and available for viewing. They record every spider and cricket they find. You see where iyam going with this? There may be wild places, but there are certainly folks exploring them, too. Pretty sure no caver has ever provided compelling evidence of an anthropoid american ape, and new caves are discovered and explored every year. Caves tend to be very delicate and easily disturbed ecosystems, but the evidence has not turned up yet. Funny how Bigfoot ONLY lives in caves that remain undiscovered PERMANENTLY.

Hi Enigmaseeker. Welcome. This is a fun place. yes.gif

Hey, thanks to those who have replied so far.

opticuswrangler- Thanks for the input. I hope you would agree though that there still is a staggering amount of caves/cavern systems out there- even with regular explorers charting them, as well as other subterranean locales. it would be a truly monumental thing when/if all of them were ever fully mapped/discovered.( thanks for the headsup on that group, - I will check them out.)

my_psychosis-Thanks , yes it is; Im glad to be here

Reminds me of the Park Ranger at Carlsbad caverns, asked by a tourist "how much of the cave is unexplored?", to which he replied "only the undiscovered parts, ma'am."

Hey there welcome to U.M. watch out you might find yourself spending alot of time here, this place has made many a junkie lol. As far as most cryptids go I do find bigfoot probably the most likely to exist. I live in a place thats right next to the rockie mountains and I tell you when driving or flying over them it's vast and many places man would not want to explore. We have small planes that crash and are never found so concidering just how big this area is and the fact that much of it has yet to be really explored except by air, there is alot of area for bigfoot to remain hidden in. Sure if I was a bigfoot I would love to find a nice cozy cave to call home, and the are many caves yet to be explored.

That's a very interesting proposal, and one that merits consideration...but what of the areas that have little or no known underground areas, like The Florida Everglades(Skunk Ape), for example?

Edited for lack of manners....Welcome to U.M!!

Actually, there is no way of knowing how many yet to be explored caves there are. Once found and explored, we must invoke yet another "undiscovered" cave for Bigfoot to live in, because he hasn't been in any of the ones so far examined.

For awhile back in the early '90s, piles of sticks, branches and leaves were touted by many crytozoologists as makeshift 'Bigfoot Huts' and photos were abundant. I did a quick search and found a couple here: http://www.ourbigfoot.com/bigfoot_shelters.html

Apparently this is a website in Ohio where "Our family has been studying and documenting the same Bigfoot since 1956." They could be members of the UM forum, for all I know.

Of course, discovery and research into the infamous 'Skookum Cast' seems to suggest that Bigfoot can bed down wherever he feels.

I was more impressed with this picture from the Google search results... apparently that monster truck jumped a freakin' jumbo jet!

So, if we've found proof that 'Ol Footy likes to make his house out of sticks, and another like to make his house out of bricks, then maybe if we keep an eye on the straw supplies in the Paciffic NW, we'll find our culprit......but something tells me it won't be a primate....just a hunch.

Man, if anyone was to provide definitive proof that Bigfoot sightings were due to a previously unknown species of wild pig, that poor person would be promptly attacked by legions of Bigfoot lovers.
