I came across a few pictures of wave clouds. Please take a look and tell me what you think. Make sure to click to enlarge the picture on the top, otherwise it is not at first clear.

If the thing at the beginning of the wave cloud is some kind natural phenomena, then what is it?

These are very common - at least here in Washington State. We get MORE than our fair share of clouds. LOL!

But here is a GOOGLE LINK that has pages of all kinds of cool, scary and bizzar cloud fomations:

I think uhmanduh meant this particular picture with some object as a root cause for this clouds.

OK, now I'm laughing at myself...That is so bizarre that the island just happens to be lined up with the narrowed end of the wavecloud. It creates an amazing illusion (for me at least).

It's not just illusion, I think the island is creating enough disturbance for an air flow to really be a cause for a such cloud formation. Simple aerodinamics, like a car in the wind tunnel.

ahhh that makes sense. Good point. I guess this is a good example of how easy it is to be tricked by something that may be totally natural (even if it only tricked me ha ha)

That thing at the beginning of the cloud looks to me like just a reflection of the light onto the camera.
