The aliens are probably man who left with technology or something passing by. They may have gave us our time, or the wholy spirit took theirs (you must have come a long way to get here, was what the wholy spirit told the alian).
The ability to prevent to truth is man in spirit form (probably an aborigine with his ass on the toilet - i.e. sitting on the edge of a nearby black hole winding time).
When one of the Yowie (or beast) was killed it was freed into spirit form. Now it waits for the rest.
Got sick of waiting so walks with man out of boredom.
