I'm afraid you have misunderstood the evolution of man. Man did not evolve from apes. Man and ape evolved from a common primate ancestor.

Regardless, though, it is entirely possible for a species to evolve from another, and the original species still continue to exist. There are a few different methods in which this occurs, but probably the most common is through isolation. A single species is split into two groups by some sort of barrier, possibly geographical, social, or pretty much anything that would keep the two groups from continuing contact. This means that one group can develop a mutation that would eventually lead to speciation without affecting the original group, which would result in one new species descended from the original speciies, and the original species, who remained as they were.

I have to agree......one example would simply be...that if you take 2 fish that are of the same species.....and one is on the bottom of the ocean and one is on the top of the ocean...the one that lives on the bottom of the ocean will have to evolve or adapt to it's environment. I saw on the Discovery Channel of at least one such instance. The fish that lived on the bottom of the ocean evolved to a different shape (to survive at that depth)...then the one that lived near the surface of the ocean... So while the original species near the surface continues to stay the same.....the species that dwells in the depths has evolved...

I think it was Mendel that proposed evolution in species but not genus is ongoing.

It's obvious that you haven't even begun to study the nature of evolutionary theory, and more importantly natural selection.
You might want to read some material from an un-biased perspective to fully understand the theory. If you disagree with evolution, then you will at least understand what it is before making these kinds of statements.

If somone hasn't already said this, it takes thousands, even millions of years to envolve!!! If with the help from man, it would take a very long time! Plus, we had a little boost to get where we are....
