After just buying a new computer and more recently a new video card, Geforce 7300 GT 256MB DDR2, I've found that no matter what I do I cannot over clock this card. Also, I cant get any options on my nvidia control panel that are supposed to be there. I have Windows Vista and believe I have the most up-to-date drivers for the card, but I really need help. Also, I'm already aware that there can be dangers in over clocking, so I'm being very careful. Thanks for any advice.

EDIT: Also, when I try to run Ntune, it says I don't have the correct administrative privileges to run it, even though I',m the administrator of the computer!

It might be possible that the video card has built in features to prevent people from over clocking it.

To my understanding overclocking isn't a good idea...if it was a good idea they would come pre-overclocked.

I tend to agree, which is why I haven't replied yet - my knowledge is very limited in this area and I don't want to risk giving the wrong advice. It is, however, widely done. I just prefer to buy good hardware for the software I'm running and leave it instead of taking the risk. There are some good forums out there about overclocking. I'd be half tempted to do it just so I'd have an excuse to buy a liquid cooling system... whistling2.gif

You need that in order to change core and memory clock speeds.

Also you can use the xtreme-g drivers if you want slightly better performance and image quality.
Dhzer0point and NGO will give a bigger increase in image quality (oddly enough for me it also gives me the biggest performance boost) but I dont know if they have vista drivers.

You are quite knowledgeable about these things, as are the rest of the responders. thank you all. If any have been following my posts, I have been trouble finding the right computer for me. now that I've decided I spent too much time on games (IMO), I decided to get a laptop. It's been so frustrating returning so many different computers, but well worth it. I still plan on coming here to view the forums, and am so glad at the helpful community response here.
