US, February 15, 2007 - Aaron Eckhart has been confirmed as being in "final negotiations" to play Harvey Dent in the upcoming The Dark Knight. District Attorney Harvey Dent begins as an ally of Batman and Gotham cop Jim Gordon, only to end up becoming the horrifically scarred, coin-flipping villain Two-Face.

Dent has previously been portrayed onscreen by Billy Dee Williams and Tommy Lee Jones, who starred opposite Eckhart in The Missing.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Eckhart's casting today. There's still no word on whether Maggie Gyllenhaal has indeed replaced Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes.

In addition to Eckhart, The Dark Knight also stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman. Heath Ledger will play The Joker.

Aaron Eckhart's credits include Thank You for Smoking, The Black Dahlia, The Core and Paycheck. He will next be seen opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones in No Reservations.

Hmmm, should be interesting to see.

He's not exactly the first person that I'd think of for the role of Dent, but then again I didn't think Bale was a good choice for Batman either. Eckhart was a pretty good baddie in Paycheck, but not really menacing like Two-Face is supposed to be. However well he does it, it is almost guaranteed that he'll do better than the goofy Two-Face that Jones played.

I disagree Bale is probably the best batman ever cast. ANd Begins has got to be the best batman movie minus Holmes of course if they just cut out her bits it would be better. Speaking of which Gyllenhaall (as in maggie not jake the guy in my Sig) is almost certainlly Holmes replacement

What are you disagreeing about? I said:

The bold part indicates the turn. Eckhart is not exactly my vision of a good Two-Face, but I felt the same way about Bale being Batman. (i.e. He did great.)

I ilke Arron. I really enjoyed him in Paycheck. Thought he did a darned fine job of being 2-faced in that movie! laugh.gif

I was skeptical when they first said that Michael Keaton would play The Dark Knight back in '89. I mean, come on! He was Mr. Mom! He was Beetle Juice! But when I saw it, I realized that basically in Hollyweird nearly anything is possible. blink.gif He followed it up with "Pacific Heights"!!! Creeeeeeeeeeepy!!! ph34r.gif

I'm learning not to put any actor/actress I think is at least somewhat talented into a limited range. (NOTE: They must have at least some talent IMO!!!) When they are talented, I really don't put any role out of their range. Now, granted there are quite a few actors who get paid big buck$ & I do not see why. wacko.gif They can't act, every role is the exact same & frankly I've seen better acting from my cat! But that is another topic...

I hope Aaron enjoys his new role. I hope he does another great job. So far in looking at who's on the project, I think it might be worth seeing. I will however wait til it gets closer to release date. I don't count chickens before they hatch. thumbsup.gif

I think he will do pretty well. Nolan obviously knows what he's doing.. Personally I saw Leiv Schreiber been Two-Face..

Personally if he does the job then he's a good pick, as i don't think anyone would of thought the current James Bond would of been called 'best ever' or bring in the biggest amount of money as he did. So can't wait for the new Batman film and looks a good line up, Joker and Two Face.
