First off I'd just like to say if yours is in a um "sensitive" place then it's probably best you keep that to yourself

Let's keep this thread clean please

Reading through the Forehead Scoops thread in Sightings, Reports & Experiences the subject of birthmarks came up. To save going completely off topic I started this as the birthmark I want to talk about has nothing to do with foreheads...
I have an odd one on my hands. Well, technically it's two, mirror images. At the base of each of my thumbs I have an oval shaped patch of skin where the ridges are horizontal rather than vertical. They look like fingerprints on my palms. I've tried to take a photo but it's not showing up, I'll do a hand ink print later to see if that shows it.

I have a starburst-like freckle arrangement on my left wrist. The weird thing is that my mom and sister have the same birthmark on the same wrist in the same place.

I've got a huge one next to my belly button. Nothing special. My belly button though looks so much like the all seeing eye (eye of horus) that it's weird to look at

I've managed to get a clearer picture by using ink. I tried printing onto paper which worked, but my scanner's decided it's not playing so here are photos of my inky hands. Taken with my mobile again, so do excuse the quality.
Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentHas anyone seen anything like this before? I appear to be the only one with these "fingerprints", it would be nice to know I'm not alone...

I haven't seen anything like that Bebi, but I do believe birth marks and other strange markings are from past lives.
I have a very very faint darker spot on the back of my hand in the shape of lips.

I don't know if this can be considered a birthmark, but I was born with one of my little toes being completely bald and smooth, and that toe is still completely bald and smooth today. No nail, ever.

My mom, sister and I have weird toe-nails too; our pinky toe-nails are the tiniest of tiny (sometimes they even just pop off, it doesn't hurt) grow straight up and look like a little button.

I have a ... sebacuous nemus, i think is what its called, just right of my left ear about two centimeters long.
It looks like a scar; I get asked about it all the time.
I like it, but I have to get it removed before I am twenty because apparently it can become cancerous.

I cant tell you where mine is( cos the OP doesnt want to know) but it is a little odd. I cant think what it could be if its not a birthmark but its a bit darker than normal I think. But the thing that makes me giggle is its shape: Its the soviet, crossed, Hammer and Sickle!

I was born C section I don't have birthmarks. Birth marks are caused by friction to the baby's skin as itit coming out of the birth canal.

Here's a Wiki link to birthmarks -

I have a few.. My main one is about the size of your thumb and its on the side of my neck(my left side), with another fainter one which is on the opposite side of my neck alittle closer to my shoulder, which is down about an inch maybe.. so they almost line up. I also have a slightly smaller one on my.... lower lower back.. lol.. And I have a smaller one again which I cant really say where it is. I also have a funny little extra bit of cartilage which is near my ear.. So its on my upper jaw but its right near my ear.. so you wouldnt notice it unless I said first.

No, I dont think that they are, but the frequency where mother/child/siblings all share similar birthmarks is quite astounding.
After a fair bit of googling I have come up with a litle bit or information on mine....
Called a nevus sebaceous, apparently they are quite a big deal.
Need to get it removed within the next few years...I dont want it to go.
But apparently they can cause defects in the eye, heart, skeleton etc...
And a small number have a mental retardation Way to make me feel good, Wikipedia!!
Edit: to fix up spelling.

So birth marks could just be areas of skin with abnormal development? I mean, I have a wound on my elbow that is a few years old and looks like it has exploded.
