How do you anhilate (say) an Oxygen Atom, and turn it into energy?
Brainstorm.
shortest brainstorm session, hehe.

By splitting an atom wouldn't you just be left with smaller masses? You'd only be able to annihilate it by introducing it to antimatter.

This little thought experiment doesn't involve the creation of anti-matter, but the destruction of matter (and subequent transformation into only energy) using only standard matter.
