Anyone watch the UK series Primeval? Eps 1 and 2 have been out so far and both were really enjoyable, next week looks really good with a Mosasaurs in the swimming pools and rivers... cool. Plus the blonde girl from SC7 was really cute.

Episode 3 on ITV in 4 minutes people. Seriously, prehistoric reptiles simming modern day rivers and public swimming pools eating people. Cm'on!

I've seen one episode and that's all I needed to see. It's evidently ITV trying to make a cheaper version of Torchwood because they have run out of decent programs to air in between the endless waves of Harry Hill we see on it nowadays.

To be honest its nowhere near as good as torchwood. even though Torchwood itself aint exactly as good as it could be! Though a fight between a cyberman and a dinosaur is easily the one thing that could top cyberman V dalek!

It's evident that it's a rip off of Torchwood though. A glorified "Hunting with Dinosaurs" program if i ever saw one

How is it a rip off tourchwood? Torchwood is about aliens being hunted down by a team of people who enjoy lots of gay s*x and use alien technology (seriously, I have no problem with gays and am notoriously in favour of gay-rights on the politics threads, but was there anyone in that series who wasn't gay or bi? It was just being so overly PC by the end it was annoying)
Primevil is about a rift allowing dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals into modern-day... wherever its based, hunted down by people with modern day technology.

If Primevil counts as a rip-off of Torchwood, then Torchwood is just a rip-off of Men in Black, Buffy, Angel and any other series where a bunch of people hunt down something.

Like it or not, Torchwood neither invented nor owns the rights to the sci-fi genre.

And if you hate Primevil so much, then at least show some common decency and stop coming into a thread about it and swearing off about it. There is a point were criticism stops being criticism and just becomes pointless whinging. My entry to the Torchwood thread consisted of 'It was okay, but I've wouldn't say great' not 4 posts one after another of 'It’s an A-Team rip-off with some aliens added in'.

Of course Torchwood is a rip-off, I never said any different. The point i'm trying to make is that the Beeb put out Torchwood, ITV see that they're getting ratings and decide to make a series about a bunch of "researchers" run around trying to solve a supernatural situation of somesorts.

Of course torchwood is a rip off but at least they had the sense to wait a few years for the hype around Men In Black to die down before they made it!

Look rhynow, here's some advice, if you don't like Primevil - Don't watch it! And stop wasting your time trying to convert anyone who likes it into Torchwood fans. For someone who hates the show, you've taken up more space in a thread devoted to it than the people who do like it. I couldn't care less about the similarities between the two shows; cry all you want, but I think its a good thing there are more shows than just Torchwood running with a sci-fi theme right now, because it means if you don't like one you might like the other.

I had the courteousy not to go into the torchwood tread and b*tch for an entire page about now much I disliked it, would you please show the same courteousy and stop moaning about now much you hate Primevil based on the pilot episode. This isn't a 'Torchwood vs Primevil' thread, the fact Torchwood has been mentioned in all but 2 posts means this thread is completely off-topic.
Some criticism is fine, but not repeated posts over and over again spouting the same complain form the same poster; if we all tried to clog up threads devoted to shows we didn't like with trivial complains then the entire media thread would be so awash with criticism then the purpose of the media section - for FANS of the shows to discuss it - would be completely drowned out.

I don't care about torchwood, this is not a torchwood thread, would you please go moan about Primevil ripping off Torchwood in the Torchwood thread and stop trying to lead this thread off-topic.

Fine, fine.... I apologize for ever having in any way hinted that Primevil was in any way influenced by anything else...

I have found something positive to say about it though. It's the best thing on ITV at the moment
