Is there any way a feature could be added to ensure all posts are safe from potential computer lock ups and the like?
I have been overcome with frustration lately as I take sometimes up to 40 minutes or more typing a rebuttal only for the window to FREEZE when I hit the submit button... Last year I decided to start playing it safe by copying all the text prior to submitting my posts, but the ONE time I am impatient and decide to hit submit without copying the text the window FREEZES!! It's hard to describe the level of frustration this causes. It is one of the primary reasons I am hesitant from posting now. I'd rather not have to load Microsoft Word everytime I decide to post...
A feature such as Word's file recovery would be terrific, but I've never encountered such a feature on a forum anywhere on the internet. If something could be done to reduce such happenings, that would be great. I don't have much optimism regarding potential realistic resolutions, however, but I had to let off some steam in some way...

I have had that happen when the forum gets very busy; If I type something rather long I will highlight it and then press ctrl-c to copy it so that if it gets lost on the submit I cna back up and just paste it back into the same spot without losing anything...

I agree it can be frustrating, but if a post looks like it's going to freeze on me, I just copy what I've written (Ctrl+A to select all, then Ctrl+C to copy), and I can just paste it into a new window when it's available. If it's happened recently, I usually get ultra-paranoid and just copy every post I make before clicking send. It only takes two seconds.

i have experienced errors in the posting AFTER i send, but never a freeze, it may just not be busy during the only hours that i can be on the computer, ya think?

sometimes I've gotten an error window, so I hit refresh and that's what gives me double posts. sometimes. ctrl+a, ctrl+c, windows+r, "notepad", ctrl+v is a saver though.

That has happened all too often for me. Just yesterday, it crashed after Add Reply....but I was lucky as somehow it made it through. It is frustating and only seems to happen on those occasions when I didn't copy it to Word.

This problem is down to there being too many people on the site for the server to cope with, a server upgrade is currently being considered to address this and other performance issues.
