I have two questions for you.

1. How does a thread get "stars" after the title in the menu? I opened one yesterday and the first time I came back to look for responses, it had stars. Who puts those there and how is it determined?

2. I see a link to click on in the left menu of My Controls for "Paid Subscriptions". What are those and what do they offer? Out of curiosity, I clicked on it but it had no content which took me any further.

1. That's a good question. I used to know how it was done, but maybe the system is slightly different since the last board update. Someone else should know this.

2. Many boards like this rely on member contribution to operate, so there is a paid subscription option. This board is self-sufficient though, and so no need for subscriptions. The icon is a part of Invision software and it's easier to just leave it as a broken link than it is to remove the icon (if that's even possible). At least, I think that's the reason.....

1. Go to the first post in a thread, and look just above it and to the right in the bar with the thread title. You should see a little box saying 'Rating'. Just click that and a little menu will slide down with 1-5 stars option that you can choose.

For some reason that box isn't showing up in this particular thread, I'm guessing Saruman has disabled that option from this part of the forum, but any other thread should be fine.

I was just wondering who it was who put the stars on that thread. When I first saw it I thought "Whoa-za, I've hit the Big Time!"

You may or may not have to have a certain number of posts to rate a thread.

A five star post doesn't mean much considering if just one person gives you a five star rating then you get it.

Ive only ever seen five star threads...where are the 1-4 star threads?
