I went to edit avatar and i uploaded a new avatar from my computer and clicked Update Avatar and i see a new avatar on the page, but when i visit my user-homepage or view my posts, my avatar is still the old one and not the one i just uploaded.

I tried Saruman's idea:

You are probably seeing a cached copy of your old avatar.
When you upload your new one, right click on the image, select "properties".
Highlight and copy the link to the image, then paste that into a new browser window.
Hit refresh a couple of times until the new image appears.
Then go back to the board and refresh the page, and your avatar should be updated.

But it doesn't work (because the one on the avatar page is the new picture but the one in my posts is the old one).
So, any ideas? Or do I just hafta wait and it'll update by itself?
BTW, I also cleared temporary internet files and cookies but it doesn't work.

I've noticed this to be happening quite often as of late .... I'm always changing my avatar .... I upload a new image, see the change, but then don't see the new avatar when I surf the boards. I just leave it .. it eventually resets and the new avatar is displayed.

I has a similar problem when I changed my personal photo...if I remember correctly I think I had to clear my private data and(its under Tools in your browser).

I think it does have something to do with cache memory. try hitting ctrl and f5 keys to clean out old cache memory. then I would make sure the pic is an accepted picture type like gif, jpeg ect. if that doesn't work make sure the pic is the right size.

It's still the same problem with the cache on your browser, do the same thing for the avatar next to your posts as well, that will get the updated image to display.

And even if it doesn't work, rest easy in the fact that everyone else can see your new avatar. I had that issue when I first started here - I uploaded a new image, but my old one was still showing. I just assumed it was something I was doing wrong, and since I didn't really have an issue with the old avatar, I just left it. Then I saw people commenting on my new avatar, and I started to think that the problem might be with my computer instead.....
