Sorry if this is in the wrong section or whatever. And this has already been posted.

As some of you know. I believe in rebirth/recarnation. But my brother being the jerk that he is. He's going to a "christian school," and told me since I believe in rebirth. I'm no longer a Christian. Because there is no "rebirth" in the Bible. So I'm no longer Christian to him. I'm an Atmeth (however it's spelt) to him. But I believe in God & I don't understand why a Christian like me can't believe in rebirth & still follow God. So what's going on? Is he right or am I? Thoughts?

Sorry about this thread. ^^;; I rarely make threads.

I don't see why the two should be completely incompatible. Doesn't the last section of the christian bible mention how you're all going to be physically reborn in new bodies on a new earth? And as I recall, it doesn't explicitly say that you're to be flitting about the clouds with the angels in the meanwhile between your dying and and when your new body is available. So the process as a whole could be viewed as a sort of rebirth.

I'm hoping for a rebirth of sorts, though not what the average believer in reincarnation is asking for. The idea has no conflicts with my lack of organized religous beliefs.
Purplos
Do a search for Christian reincarnation in google or something. Lots of people believe this.

You are whatever you want to be.

I hope your bother comes around in his thinking. I find sadness that a professed christian would call a sister or anyone an anethma for their belief. It smacks of shunning and in my opinion, there's no honor or godliness in that.

My mother is a believer in reincarnation, she's quite devote in that belief (I am Christian, she is a student of an Indian Mystic) I hear from her all the time about how whatever current lesson I'm learning wasn't resolved in my last last, she tells me about my next life. Of course, I don't really buy any of it, but I believe it's my duty to let her believe as she wishes, I'm not offended by her remarks, I don't even think she's wrong or crazy. She's my mother and I love her.

I'm open to being wrong here, but reincarnation isn't a popular belief for most Christians... but in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with looking at some of the easten religions that do believe in reincarnation and discover if that is a path that is right for you.

MoonPrincess
Thanks.

Ms. Adventures-I've never read the Bible. It's not a popular book to me.

Purplos-Thanks. I might do that.

Miss. Mels Wells-He's only 12 & he says since I belive in it. And I'm no longer a Christian, I'm going to heck. But see where you're coming from.

When I was a child I spoke as a child. Your bother is not old enough or wise enough to make a judgment on who is or is not a Christian. But then you are a Christian and you have never read the Bible, don't you think to be a Christian you should read the Bible so you know what belief system is about? The chapters are short in it, read a chapter every night before you go to sleep. I don't have a the time right now to read the books on my religion like I would like to, so that is what I do I read three or four pages every night before I go to sleep.

He's not old enough to make these judgements. Especially to me.

I'll try that, but the book is pretty old. ^^;; But thanks for the tip.

I am Christian and I agree with the notion of reincarnation. If you want you can even interpret a verse in the bible to mean reincarnation: Verily, verily I say unto thee ,except a man be born again ,he cannot see the kingdom of God.

This has two meanings for me. And both are mutually incompatible. One is the death of the ego and becoming one with the kingdom of God. And the second is reincarnation. Reincarnation is not liberation but simply another of infinite chances to achieve spirtual liberation.

Is it important to you for your borther to call you a christian? The alternative would be saying "ok" the next time he brings up the subject.
MoonPrincess
Brave-Oh thanks. I agree with you. One my friends online said, Jesus raising again. Was like him being reborn.

Ms. Adventures-It really doesn't matter. I just him to respect my views & my beliefs on rebirth. That's all I'm saying. But him saying that, my mind has been divided on if he's right or wrong.

I believe in *regeneration* and entertain the possibility of reincarnation but don't include it in my belief system. That's my thoughts.

It would depend on ones definition of reincarnation. If you are talking about jumping species i.e. ‘he was a dog in his past life or a spruce tree in anouther’ I would draw the line. As a Christian I believe there are circumstances (without scriptural evidence) in cases such accidental death of a child or victims of murder, results of evil intent and direction. As well and this one ‘a touchy subject’ suicide as a result of drug interactions on mentality or being tormented and coerced into such action by evil people.
Perhaps even in some cases of accidental death. God has allowed these things to happen and He would have a means to remedy such happening by allowing a second chance on occasion.

Just as long as you still have Faith in your God, Prey to Him , worship him, beleive JC died a rose for your sins, I think your ok. There are way too many unexplained mysteries out there and to not pay attention to them would make you blind and careless....So I think your personal relation ship with Christ is all that matters...At least I hope so, I am a struggling Christian myself and Beleive that JC is the son of the One tru GOD., But like you I see the other things going on in this world and I also choose to look in to them rather then ignore and denie.

Hi MoonPrincess,
I used to have a bother like yours, who developed a similar attitude when he started at a religous schul. Looking back, his attitude seems like a phase, he matured out of it eventually. All I can say for sure that the best approach for dealing with him was to stick with what I really believed in, and not trying to compromise for his approval. I wasn't actually going to get his approval unless my beliefs were identical to what he was taught.

A true Christian sees everything as the will of God. Ultimately there is no good, no evil, so crime and no sin. The universe just is, don't judge anyone, laugh.gif the Kingdom of God is within you, there is a time and a season for everything under heaven.

Reality is what you believe it to be, believe you can move mountains and you will. Your soul and God is one. Hell is simply not knowing the "Truth" and knowing the truth is being "God", worshipping the spirit in spirit and not at several removes away via a belief system in a saviour.

How does one worship the spirit in spirit? Good question. The answer is simple but in practice it is extremely hard (I havn't achieved it yet but I have faith that this is the true way). The answer can be found in psalms: "Be still, and know that I am God."

That is what I think anyway, that is the means to finding the "Kingdom of Heaven within."

laugh.gif

Also another beautiful line from the bible is: "....with God all things are possible."

So reincarnation and infinite possibility is all possible to a true Christian. So I think anyway. And if anyone calls you unchristian because you keep an open mind just remember that it isn't up to them to judge but for God and Jesus to. grin2.gif

I do believe in God. And all that stuff. I even trust him. And I do pray to him. It's probably all that matters.

I just ignore him when he peaches to me. I'm not going to low my level to him & change my beliefs so he can be happy. Oh I know.

verax-acis-Ok. ._.'

Brave-Thanks for that. :3

One night he said I'm still a Christian. He was either finally accepting my belief of rebirth. Or he was tried of us fighting over it. I told him something about the rebirth & how it can be real. Using a metafor about ufos. It was the only example I could think of. And he knew what I meant about rebirth. Edit: I hoep that made sense. ._.'
