Of course they are remaking Day of the dead, but promised to stick sort of to the orignal, as i watch the trailer it looks nothing like the orignal lol, it looks a little interesting, any thoughts?
Upcoming horror movies, day of the dead

It looks like it could be pretty good...I have been a on zombie book kick lately; I have picked up every zombie book I can find...I find it interesting to see the different authors and how they see the zombies coming back; the cause, the type of zombies... fun stuff.

I saw parts of the original movie. And just no thank you. It totally creeped me out! So I won't be watching the remake of the movie. disgust.gif

Pretty good trailer. The acting looks atrocious, but hopefully the movie will be decent. The original sucked, so I don't think it can get worse than that.

What are some good zombie books you can recommend? I've been meaning to look for some, but I've never really come across any besides the Zombie Survival Guide.

My collection comprises of over 30 zombie movies now. I never thought i'd even find that many, but there it is. Day of the Dead was always one of my favourites, definitely the best in my opinion of Romeros original trilogy, even though generally it gets pretty negative comments and Romero himself was unpleased with the result since the studo slashed his budget.

I've been rather happy with remakes and recent new zombie flicks, they've all been pretty good. But this, i can't say i'm happy about it at all. It looks terrible! Like a bad wannabe B-movie gone.. bad. Of course i'll watch it, even own it, but really, i think Day of the Dead: Contagium could beat out this so far with first impressions.

Well, it still has potential. From everything i've read though it seems t be absolutely nothing like the original, so watch out for that. DOn't think of it as a remake, just a new movie with the same name. And it also has nothing to do with the previous remake, which is kind of silly, they should have been at least set in the same universe like Romeros were. And to note, the casting of the same actor in both flicks, Ving Rhames, is to fool movie goers into thinking there is a connection between the two, but he actually plays a completely different character.

I don't know... It seems that as soon as 28 Days Later came out, every zombie movie directer has opted a fetish for running zombies.

The Remake of Dawn was alright for a remake. But I saw the trailer to Day and i gotta say, the acting looks atrocious and so does the storyline. But I'll properly make my mind up when I see it.

If it's anything close to the quality of the original I will be ecstatic

I thought the movie was rather boring for the most part. It's better than Night but Dawn, I feel, is the best, seeing as it has the most going on in it.

I thought that was him in the trailer. You don't really get a good look at his face, but that voice is unmistakable. I wasn't sure if it was just someone that sounded like him. But yeah, that's kind of stupid. Overall, this movie just looks loads worse than the Dawn remake, which was excellent, as we all know.

Also, I REALLY hope the noises the zombies make in the trailer aren't the same ones they make in the actual movies. It makes them sound ridiculous.

The zombie movie to really look out for right now is Automaton Transfusion. It's been finished for probably close to 2 years now, but it doesn't seem to be any closer to getting a proper release.

Thanks for the book recommendations, Fluffy. I'll definately check them out. I had no idea that World War Z was out already.

I sort of agree with you. I think Night was slow moving at times but it helped define the modern zombie.

This movie first of all is not a re-make of the original which kinda blew anyway, it is a sequel to the Dawn of the Dead remake which of course wasn't all that bad.

This movie imo looks like a peice of crap, but for anyone who likes a good zombie flick I suggest you look out for Romeros new flick Diary of the Dead.

The original Day of the Dead lacked a good budget but had a lot of good ideas. Too bad the original never got the budget it deserved because I knew where Romero was going with it.

Night of the Living Dead was ground breaking in the 60's and a cinematic masterpeice in it's own right. Romero revolutionized the industry with this film much like Hithcock did with Psycho. What made NOTLD great was the fact that the story itself really symbolized many of the social issues of the 60's like Racism. This was one of the first films to feature a black man as a lead.

Dawn of the Dead not quite as ground breaking as the original dealt with many social issues as well such as poverty and greed. Not to mention Savinis effects were top notch.

Romero is good at not only entertaining his audience but also dealing with issues relevant to current affairs. Land of the Dead dealt with issues like Terrorism, greed and corrupt leadership. While this one was not as good as the first 2 this imo is along th lines of what the original Day of the Dead was to be like.

You can tell good movie makers apart from ok or bad ones especially in horror. The best original horror film in a long time is Saw and it's sequels as well. While other movie try to replicate it's torture style like Hostel none hit the formula as this movie does.

To many remakes of old movies most of the time inferior to their originals is destroying Hollywood. Whil some movies are infact in need of a remake like let's say Invasion of the Body Snatchers was in the 70's or The Thing in the 80's many of the movies being remade do not need to be. However when remakes are made it does allow people who never knew of these classics previously to become interested. Remakes benifit classics as in they help keep the greats alive by introducing younger generations them.

Other then this Hollywood is not out of good ideas, there is tons of them. The real problem is studios don't want to take the risks they used to on movies.

Don't have time for a full reply but in answer to this, no it is not. It does not have anything to do at all with the Dawn remake, this is a complete stand-alone movie.

Only one in the set i missed so a remake of it would be well welcomed. As the last Dawn that was made was actually quiet good if its the one i'm thinking off in the supermarket thing. But i just searched up on google and the same actor appeared 'Ving Rhyms' So surely this is a sequel to the first remake Dawn of the Dead, as it puts him in Day of the dead. So unless they have changed the plans of making a sequel to the Dawn of the dead remake then okay, but off what i've found on the net the same actors appear from the first film in the second film that is in production or preproduction.
jennybabie
umm okay so i thought sequels are the aftermath of the first movie?? well in this movie it starts all off again with the virus just starting so its not a sequel if you lookat the trailer it clearly shows the beginning of one person gets bitten and then so no and everyone turns, and yes it is a remake it says it itself ''remake'' so please read it just says in the information they are just upping it a bit to make it more modern. and if there ever were a sequel it would be land of the dead..which would make more sense dont you think?

Dawn of the dead, day of the dead, night of the living dead... what next?

Brunch of the dead(Zombies that consume orange juice and champagne)? All night rave of the dead(Zombies on X carrying glow sticks)? Early afternoon Siesta of the dead? department of motor vehicles of the dead? (actually I think the workers there are already dead...nevermind)...

They did that already with "Return of the Living Dead:Rave to the Grave"
And we all died a little inside -,-
