Hey all,

I created this CG image entitled "When Pawns Attack", using the free 3D suite: Blender 3D.

The pawns are spline based as well as the chair post in the background. The chess board is not a UV mapped texture, but individual cubes mapped with seperate textures. Even though it was not effecient, it gave a better effect.

The Kings were created by extruding a UV sphere. This is called Poly-Modelling.

All the major objects in the scene were set with surface smooting and Sub-D surfaces.
