personally, i don't think it's that big of a deal. Dictionary style, a cyborg is a mechanical system that cannot survive without its biological parts. seeing as these systems aren't technically alive, and can be removed at will with no ill affect to the person, i don't think of them a cyborg components. i think it's kind of cool actually. i can't wait to see some of the really cool things they think up with cybernetics. they already have this thing they stick just under the skin in your arm, then paramedics scan your arm, and the little thing tells them your name, age, race, allergies, medical conditions, address and phone number. they say its a real big help when they find an unconscious person.

I would think it would be a help but I would never agree to have one put in me. its just feels like im trying to be controlled and monitored.

I have personally seen the system tested. It's still cumbersome, it needs to be made smaller to be truly effective. I think this is great, less exposure to harm means less casualties. Being able to shoot around corners, isn't that why people hack in video games?

Personally for me if it's ever made available to the average soldier it makes my job much easier. That's a couple less friends I have to worry about patching up while I'm getting shot at innocent.gif

Its electronic.... What happens if it rains? Or if you get struck by lightning and you have allies nearby going in a stealth mission. Boom your all dead. o.O

looks kind of bulky? I'd hate to be fighting terrorists in close quarters wearing the borg outfit...
Stellar
Thats quite an old pic. The newer versions look much smaller.

The electronics are waterproof, and getting hit by lightning is still slim and will not affect anyone else.

the electronic suit is called land warrior and has connections to the internet with live chatrooms, and the device is also equiped with infared andable to enhance sight and hearing of the wearer it also has a part on it that allows all the wearers no matter how many to see the same thing and they are able to pull up cams of other wearers when ever they want it is going to be sent to iraq in the near future i hear.

the newer version that they are coming up with will have VR aspects too. ever played "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" ? the targeting system that you get in that game is already being tested for use. Also, they will have integrated options to allow remote access to small robotics sent in as well such as UAV's or RAV's. that is going to be cool. they also are trying to come up with a spec for self repairing body armor. when THAT comes out, im getting some >: }
