I find it a very telling indication of the current state of the human race that, when discussing how we would make first contact with an alien species, the first thing some of you bubbleheads are considering is what weapons you could take to kill them all O.o

Thank You serephina!!!!!!!!
my thoughts exactly. i've seen some threads with incredibly ridiculous "what if" scenarios, but this one????
it's just another thread for "what's my favourite weapon".

I'd always have a blade or two with me anyway, wherever I go...as a "just in case".But I believe the intent of the original post was to ask what one would bring to a planet that had cow & human-eating aliens, therefore my response.

see i'm still not sure what he was asking, as the grammar was so bad it made little sense, but if that's what you interpreted his question to be, then the best thing to take would be a cow, and offer the cow to the aliens and then start a movement, kinda like the vegetarian thing, and put out literature proving the hazards of eating humans, and proving that cow eating is more healthy.
then you wouldn't have to worry about a thing, especially weapons.
aaah, that's enough, i've gotten way too involved in this ridiculous thread, i'm just stunned that more of you don't get what serephina said, that first contact with any species automatically needs to involve weapons, that you're all ok with the "shoot first ask questions later mentality"

Well well, my kind of topic. Firstly Id take the F88 Styer, self loading, semi automatic, light weight, (basically its Tupperware) comfortable and easy handling. Modestly, it takes me 32 seconds to dismantle, so in times of pressure if need be I can whip it back together in no time. Oh yeah with bayonet as well. Oh and a SLR. Heavy but packs a good one. If I had the men and rank I'd love to ship a Howitzer with us. (Good stuff). Sidearm, Minimi and a 1942 issue Aussie mascheti. Hmmmmm, couple of sticks of jelly just in case. There I'm prepared, when and where are we going?

I wouldn't want to try and single handedly take out an entire global civilization of SUPER highly technologically advanced and SUPER intelligent aliens who could turn me to ash no matter what earth weapon I was carrying.. WHEWW

They'd probably catch me and make an example of me with some uber-tech torture devices.
My luck they'd probably all be armed with the newest model X-1054 anal probes. Naa, best to stay on earth.
