all we can do is wait
Never Here
Having seen more intelligence on what the future holds,i will say this:Gasoline you can live without, but there is something that you MUST have to survive.Water.If you want to be rich, now, put some bucks into those water futures and watch...and wait. Then sell not some, but all and recoup your money and profit, then invest in more "nessacery"items. You will need them.

I was surfing this site www.onealclan.com and read:
QUOTE
The ancient Maya believed the Earth's final day will be December 21, 2012. Native Americans, Egyptians, Chinese and others arrived at a similar conclusion, each without a knowledge of the other. The Maya claimed that this future end-time would include a solar shift, a Venus transit and mounting earthquakes.

So just for fun I wanted to know what day it would be. It`s going to be a Friday.
Isn`t it strange that Islam also predicts that End of The world will take place on Friday?

Here's what really scares me. Scientists are currently proving that eclipses can cause enough of a gravitational pull on the earth to cause earthquakes, if they are over a fault line. They've already made some connections to this. If this is the case, then on 12-21-2012, when the earth, moon, sun and whatever else is in line with the black hole at the center of the milky way, what kind of gravitational pull will that cause? they are already speculating a polar shift that has only happened maybe once before when alaska was along the equator.

by the way, I'm sure this was said before, but this only happens every 25800 years, and the mayans did know this.
Never Here
A polar shift would be the most violent, destructive act of god possible.I believe(AHEM)that what you might be more concerned with would be a slide in the direction of "smaller"(not less destuctive).Think along the lines of."what would happen if"...like,"if"there was a very, very long hotter than usual summer...one that kills millions.People would start to riot.I know how most civilians are going to respond with any kind of change of this sort, and of course the millitary would step in to help...lol.You have to understand, there are limits to what you can get...even with all your money, you wont be able to use it in some situations. In the coming years,(months)the smart person who owns a home, with a basement, might want to do a little work in the basement.Reinforced walls, water storage, food(i.e,grains rice beans.all dried foods)lots of ammo, and camera security system(if possible, electricity wont be avail to all.)And thats why a good generator is a must.Kept in a remote area, like a shed in the back with ports for oxygen to enter.Always keep good, working condition weapons,(yes spare parts are a good idea)It is just a matter of time, and no it's not on your side. You can understand that this wont all happen at once, but over a short duration(two weeks)before all hell breaks loose. If you know the future, you know what you have to do.Now get busy.

I enjoy programs like this despite the high cheese quotient. Whether you're a believer, a skeptic, or somewhere in-between, the key questions remain: Why is there perennial appeal for this kind of material? Why do we hanker after world-endings and oceans of boiling blood? Never mind what people actually believe; it's the artifact of their belief that fascinates me.

There has never been a truly atheistic human society. The facades of post-Communist Russia and China have fallen away to reveal "secret" religious practices that in truth never went away at all. Suppression merely gave rise to new mutations, e.g. China's Falun Gong movement. And a civilization that finds itself without a predictive tradition will quickly develop a new one or simply appropriate/adapt someone else's. Web-bot is an oracle for our time.

I've abandoned nearly all my religious mind-impedimentia but still rely on one predictive skill: tarot. It's a precise and convenient tool for coping with the vaguaries of people and the unknown. That neither I nor anyone else can explain why it works doesn't detract from its utility. Some theorize that that the reader knows, intuitively, what cards will appear in a reading and fine-tunes his question to suit. That meshes with what I've observed during many years of reading for myself and others, so it's what I currently believe too. I'm not satisfied with this belief, but it serves.

I'd love to formulate (or rediscover) some unified theory of how predictions work, why they seem marvelously effective in certain instances, why they fall flat in others, and above all why we need them and seek them out so persistently. Some likely leads: the utter predictability of stock market boom/bust cycles (conforming to patterns of human hope and despair, not asset valuation); the strange uniformity of predictive language and techniques; and a handful of wildly successful predictions that appear to have defied all logic in order to come true.

Likes about the TV program: Its willingness to debunk some of its own evidence, including the Hedde/Mother Shipley material - very refreshing candor there.

And the information about Web-bot is still new enough to be a revelation to some.

Dislikes about the program: A few obvious canards, such as the amazing "coincidence" of McKenna's I-Ching timeline ending on December 21, 2012. Well, duh: if you or I were to go about fitting a timeline to the historical record, we'd have to pick start and end dates too. McKenna decided to start with the birth of I-Ching and end with the Mayan "doomsday" date. Nothing mysterious about it.

And as one post already noted, the producers left out everyone's favorite seer: Nostradamus. I guess ol' Michel didn't write anything about December 21, 2012.

The limitations of the human brain can be so glaring, and their implications for modern civilization - our primitive tribal instincts writ large - so horrifying that something like Web-bot accurately predicting global catastrophe seems quite plausible. I'd go so far as to say most such predictions would be self-evident if we could just tear ourselves away from f---ing/eating/earning/raising little Tiff and Chad long enough to give it a minute's thought. Given the epic stupidity of mankind and our inability to retain more than a whiff of human history, the repeated cycles of downfall and rebirth must be inevitable. For the common man it can even take on a reassuring aspect, as in "Well I screwed up and got fired but the world will end soon anyway, they'll be swimming in that sea of blood, let's have a beer."

Perhaps in the fifth Hopi world we'll have periodic culls to weed out our less intelligent (and therefore more dangerous) elements, effectively kick-starting evolution. Or perhaps we'll harness our newfound genetic expertise to reengineer the human brain, making it less violent, less superstitious, less greedy and dishonest, and more amenable to reason. That would make us far better suited to the environment in which we now find ourselves:

Massively overpopulated.

Peace,

5 years isn't very far away...
I really hope Dec 21 2012 and thereafter go by without incident.

The Mayans didn't predict and end to the world, or doomsday. They believed, according to their calendars, there would be an end of this cycle on 12/21/12. The next cycle is supposed to be an enlightened one.
Which had me thinking about Live Earth, and the Mayan prediction of an enlightened age. Maybe we're seeing the beginnings of that enlightenment right now. A global consciousness that something needs to be done to save not only our planet, but ourselves and future generations.
Maybe the wake up call we need on planet Earth is Live Earth - which, maybe intentionally, is a double entendre... No doom, no gloom - just working together as a global community to right the wrongs we've subjected all life forms to, not only ourselves.

The year 2012 is actually very important.
If you read Revalation, you will see that a lot of this is very true. God talk about the beast power, and Joshua. But everybody thinks that Joshua is the beast power because the people have not been "Raptured" yet. But the whole rapture thing isn't true. And they will kill Joshua, but he will rise again. In Revalation, it says that there will be 7 years of pain and suffering. two 3 1/2 year periods, the first 3 1/2 years are coming quickly. In the first 3 1/2 years, there will be a group of people that go to the place of safety, Jerusalem, and they will build a temple. After the 3 1/2 years, an army will come and chase them out of the place of safety, It says that Christ will stand upon a mountain, and the mount will split into and the people will flee through it to another place of safety, where they will build another temple, and at the end of the next 3 1/2 years, Christ will come back, and all the dead will be resurected. Everyone will have a chance to follow God. I have left out a few important details, but my Mother knows much more than I do.
The 2012 is very true. You will be seeing a lot of changes. If you are interested in more indepth information, please email me at pianoplayerlov@aim.com, and I will send you my mothers email. We are not trying to convert anybody, we are just getting the word out. All of these things are true, they come from the Bible itself. There are multiple other things that are connected with this also.
MrMonkey
Well 2012 cant be the end of time according to the bible. Cuz in the bible it says we wont know when, therefore whatever date we predict cant be it.

Christianity Won't end if it is the end time. In the end time, we will live on earth, among God. But everything will be changed, and we will be changed too. But we will still live by Gods laws.

Just curious,
what exactly has threatend the earths existence in your lifetime, that you speak of...?
And if you do so produce an answer, I hope you're not planning on responding with Y2k....

isnt 2012 the year that the mayan calander ends?

People wonder if it has something to do with our planet aligning with the center of the Milky Way or something... Someone way back in this thread says it only happens every 25,000 years or something? Well, if that's the case, then it's happened before. :3 And I don't think our planet was sucked into a massive blackhole then. ^.^

I believe that is when the Mayan calender ends, but I don't think (I'm not an expert, so don't quote me on that. XD) it says that the world will end, specifically. It just ends. I can only assume they couldn't write forever. :3
JMPD1
orrrrrrr, it just indicates the end of one calender cycle, and the beginning of another.

Lemme see. Two cosmic impacts, one in southern India and one in western Canada. I think is the 2012 problemo.

Okay, not to step on anyone's rift here or anything but come on? How can someone predict Doomsday? Sure it does wonders with a person's imagination but you can't live in fear. After 9/11/01 no one wanted to get on a bus, subway, plane, or anything big like that do to what was all in the media. You know I'm more afraid of human kind destroying civilization more than some sciencest or oracle's guessing game. I'm not fully religious or anything like that but I do believe in a God. Whether they be male, female, or an animal or something/someone else. And I'm sure when the time comes then it will but until that time comes I'm going to train my self more as a soldier in order to protect and defend others in life that can't do it for them selves so that hopefully they'll see that they too can't and will not live in fear anymore. Man has made fire, wheels, houses, cars, guns, bombs, etc. and recently on the news was a new virus that scientist have created in order to bring the dead back to life. They gave it to an injuried dog that was going to be gased. Well within 10 to 15 minutes it came back to life...with a few side effects. Think of George A. Romero and you'll know what I mean. The same result with rats. One healthy one that died within an hour and one that they killed immediately after infecting it. It came back and wanted the other rat. And now they've finally made a human clone??? CNN NEWs on all that. So yeah, I'm more afraid of humans ending humanity and everything in it. Did you know that eight countries have enough nukes to end the world 50 times over in less than 1 HOUR!!!! You see? Kind of makes you wonder on which one to be more afraid of...A book or humans and our inventions? Sure I'll go along with the whole climaticaly shift but I don't see anything like major droughts or anything, I see the Earth cooling its self naturally again like the last ice age. (Shouldn't be no complaints about water then, haha) Scientifically, humans survived the last ice age, so surely we have the technology to do it again. An asteroid...I'm not leaving that out of possiblities, sure it could happen. But until the evidence is clear that it's all about to be the end of the world. I'm going to live out my life, the way I want and the way I planned it. You can't live in fear...No matter how hard the media and government try to make you.

Why is it 2012 now every year its predicted and every year its wrong. What if we were to stop predicting it like when you lose something and you find it after you stop looking for it? Just a thought. As for myself i am not ready for Jesus' return in my opinion there are still to many people to find God. Always a pleasure

The day I find this so-called god is the day it stops hiding.

It's 2012 because people look for patterns in places where they do not exist.

These failed prophecies always come from believers in god though.

This is just another excuse fot those people who want the world to end because they can't cut it here & believe that whatever is out there after death has to be better then living in this life. And I'm sorry to say that christians seem to want the world to end more then others.

That makes a lot of sense better than anything else I've heard or even read. People always believe that death is better than life because of things that always happen. It's what makes us who we are. We live out everyday to the best of our abilities and go on day to day. No one ever knows what's going to happen from one moment to the next but as long as you try to live out your life with a meaning and purpose of it's own then it makes life more important than anything. There's much more to life than money and fame for those of you out there that thinks that's all that is out there. There's not! Here's something I learnt from a video game and from a movie. Two quotes from these: QUOTE 1: "The more things change, the more they stay the same" - Snake Pliskin in Escape From LA. QUOTE 2: Find something to believe in your in self. And when you do, pass it on to the future." "No one really knows who or what they are. Everything you feel and see is only as real as your mind tells you it is." - Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty. I live by these quotes and that's all. Life is more precious than wishing it all away. Look outside next time and listen to the sound of a bird chirpping or kids laughing while playing. Enjoy those moments and you'll find a true meaning to live and not think about the end.

I'm new to this forum but i am not new to the impending doom. I first heard about it in the mid 1980's on a trip to mexico. This cycle repeats itself every 26,000 or so years. Mankind survived the last one. I am not sure we can survive this one. At the time of the last cycle, Man was connected with nature. Lived off the land, dawning of the earliest recorded civilizations. We have removed ourself from nature. At least a mojority of us have. That is going ot make it harder fo rus to survive; But not impossible. Some of you maybe like this is horecrap but the science behind it is sound. So let me show you some of the science.

Prior to December 2012 we have been drifting on the top of the pizza, never really able to see the bottom. The plate and pizza are not parallel. They are moving at different angles. We've been drifting down, down, down... and on December 21st, 2012, we will be exactly level with the crust -- forming an "x" at the Galactic Equator where galactic gravity is the strongest. After 2012, if we are still here, we will be passing through the bottom zone, viewing the Milky Way pizza from the South. Not only will we be intersecting with the Galactic Equator, but we will be doing this precisely aligned with the center of the Galaxy where there is maximum mass! More mass means more gravity. More gravity means more influence from those barycenters in our Sun. That means exponential increases in solar disruptions -- all coinciding on the same day.

Magnetic Somersaults - Other possibilities on December 21, 2012:
In the first quarter of 2001, the Sun switched magnetic poles. This occurs every eleven years. Prior to this the Sun's north magnetic pole was at the north rotational pole. Now the Sun's north magnetic pole is at its south pole. Since opposite poles attract, the magnetic poles of the Earth and Sun are now at their most stable.

Just about the time of 2012 Winter Solstice, the Sun's poles will switch back. During this switch there will be a tendency for the Sun's magnetic field to pull the Earth's field with it.

If the Earth's magnetic poles switch, this would put stress on the planet aggravating earthquakes and volcanos, not to mention destruction of the electrical power distribution grid. And, if the switch happens fast enough don't ever expect your computer to work again. But if you have old tube type equipment, keep it. It should survive just fine. It will work if you can find electricity.

Those that did manage to survive. They would not be able to come out of their underground dwellings for some time, because the earth's protective magnetic shield may be gone. If the upper atmosphere and the earth's atmosphere was able to repair itself say in even a short period of time of one year, the survivors would face a barren world. All surface vegetation and animal life will have been destroyed. The surface of earth might perhaps look like a barren planet. The only possible source of food for those few survivors might be the ocean. Plant life and sea life might survive this event to some small degree. However, there is one problem...more than likely all the plankton will die. They live at the surface of the water and will be destroyed by the radiation.

Plankton is the basic building block of life for many living organisms in the ocean. Plankton is the biggest generator of oxygen on the planet. With plankton gone and the forest gone, what is going to provide and create oxygen for the planet?

With the clock ticking away i cant stress the importance that fear effect of this as we near 2012 will be expodential. People will loose control, when your scared how much of us really use our heads, and not react emotionally. To me this is a test on our character, on our heart, on our very soul, our being. This is the moment all the prophets have been warning us down through the ages. Me being a christian i am not going to sit here and give you a religeous lecture lol. But I have faith that this is not the end. And virtues that decend on the very meaning of humanity; Compassion, love, whatever you belive in that gives you strength. Hold them tight and dont fall into the chaos that is the embidiment of the worst of humanity. mass riots, looting, mass murder, rape, etc. Make peace withyoruself. And dont be afraid.

Ive seen this on History channel, this is a very good documentary. If we look around at whats happening in the world, its just like the ancients said it was going to be, todays news and the bible go hand in hand. The Mayans could predict eclipses literally thousands of years into the future, and their calendar is considered by experts the most sophisticated calendar any civilization has ever produced. Much more accurate than the calendar in use today. How did the Mayans know that the sun would start to heat up in the 2000 era? Their knowledge of the universe exceeds our own and we have all this technology we use. I think this represents a lack of knowledge on our part, since they were much more spiritual and supernatural than us. Todays modern society promotes science and rational explanations, wich doesnt leave room for supernatural and spiritual evolution. We need to shake this belief system.

P.S. The fact that the Mayans knew the sun would get hotter is a slap in the face to global warming propoganda that suggests its our fault the earth is heating up. The Mayans had a cyclical view of time wich suggest that the sun has heated up before and that its a natural part of the cosmic cycle. Its true people it is a cycle, the leaders of the world are decieving us by telling us its Co2 and human activity thats causing global warming, another pathetic lie to keep controlling the masses.

I don't know about everyone predicting all this nature crap but I can believe that people are believing the whole idea of asteroids hitting Canda and India, that's science and it's true as well. But also there's the fact that the idea of humanity ending of exisitence becomes more and more apparent as the years and days go on. Why do you think we have all these wars, conflicts, battles, bombs, murder, etc. Sure I believe in God but I also say that we humans can write our own fates and destiny. The future isn't set, There's no fate except for what we make our selves. No one can predict what nature has in store for everything and everyone but one thing is a fact, we can change a lot about mother Earth if we just change how we use our sources and how we live. Eat and live more off of the land by planting gardens, having a well instead of city water, recycle supplies that's able to be recycled, car pooling, etc. etc. I don't think that doomsday is coming unless we, humanity, cause it our selves. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'M MORE AFRAID OF HUMANITY THAN I AM OF SOME BOOK OR SO-CALLED PROPHETS/ ORACLES!!! No one can or will ever cause me to fear the future. I look at it all the time with a sense of hope and an ability to deal out Justice where it's needed. Protect the ones you can and as for the rest...try even harder to protect them too.
jacknite3000
Well ya got my vote.. I just wanted to put things ina different perspective. and it is reguards to ophiuchus (serpent bearer) also known as the 13th zodiac.

In astrology the basic assumption that there are 12 signs in the Zodiac is flawed. Despite this fact most popular astronomy books and magazines still refer to the 12 zones of the zodiac! I'll take the opportunity to explain why this is not the case here. The Earth 'wobbles' slowly in space like a spinning top. This wobble is termed precession, the Earth's axis traces out a circle on the celestial sphere every 26,000 years (a cycle of precession). Therefore the positions of the celestial poles move imperceptibly all the time against the star background - and so do the two equinoxes. This means that the that a star's celestial coordiantes change slowly with time. At present, the vernal equinox (the zero point of right ascension) lies in the constellation of Pisces, although about 2,000 years ago it lay in Aries. It will next move on into Aquarius, but will not reach there for 600 years yet - so the much heralded age of Aquarius is still a long way off! Due to this precession, there are 13 signs of the Zodiac. The Earth is tilted at an angle of approximately 23 degrees. Precession take's 26,000 years to complete. This motion is called the wobble of the spinning Earth and is caused by forces produced by the Sun and Moon.
It follows that if the Earth were not tilted, the Sun would appear to remain at the equator at all times, that is, if the imaginary line connecting our North & South planes were perpendicular to the plane containing our orbit around the Sun. But, since the Earth is tilted with respect to this plane, the Sun each year appears to move back and forth across the equator from one hemisphere to the other. The point in it's journey northwards where the Sun crosses the celestial equator is called the Vernal Equinox. It occurs about March 21st each year. The celestial equator is the projection of the Earth's equator into the sky and is parallel to the daily east-to-west paths of the stars as they appear to wheel around the celestial poles. The point at which, on it's return journey southwards, the Sun crosses the equator again is called the Autumnal Equinox and occurs about September 23rd each year.
We entered the age of ophiuchus in 2000.

When the sun rises on december 21st 2012 ophiuchus will be in the center aligned with the center of the galaxy. This story is about what really happens when the sun enters the zodiac's 13th house: An interstellar wind hits our planet.

It's a helium-rich breeze from the stars, flowing into the solar system from the direction of Ophiuchus. The sun's gravity focuses the material into a cone and Earth passes through it during the first weeks of December.

13.0.0.0.0, the "End Date" of the Mayan Long Count Calendar

My fiance asked me to post this.

A Story Told in the Sky

As seen from the City of the Sacrament on 13.0.0.0.0, Saturn is on the horizon when the Sun is on the solstice. Saturn, said to be a god of fertility, also associated with Satan, is the god for which Saturday is named. He has held many jobs in the council of gods. This morning he has been tasked to be the Herald and lead a wedding procession. Saturn drags behind him the spent scales of Judgment, the constellation Libra. The judgment now over, Libra will be the symbol of Justice in a new age of Peace and Harmony, the Age of the Matriarch.

Libra has cleared the horizon at five and a half hours after midnight. In the west Jupiter the Mighty, is riding Taurus the Bull. He stands guard over the remnants of a dying age. Jupiter stands between the wedding party and Orion, the celestial symbol of Man. Orion's legs are below the horizon with his belt just above. The Age of the Patriarch is coming to an end as he sinks below the horizon and enters the Underworld for the last time. Behind Orion is his consort Sirius going to the Underworld with him.

In the East Venus is on the horizon. Venus, symbolic of war to the Maya, was the Greek goddess of love. As Inanna, her Sumerian persona, she started as a goddess of love and purity, but in the end her behavior was more lustful than loving. Also she took up the art of war and became known as a goddess of war. So here is a universal symbol of destruction, both social and personal, rising just above the celestial symbol for the God of Peace, Antares. Ares, the Roman god of war is opposed by Antares, the rival of War.

Venus is now cast in the roll of the BrideGroom. At the same time, still out of sight below the horizon, the Sun is on the galactic equator. The Sun is now playing the role of the Bride. She bathes in the pure waters of the galactic river (helium-rich breeze from the stars). As the BrideGroom did before her, she washes away the quilt and lust that comes from judgment. Once cleansed she will rise to wed the One Who Grooms the Bride, the Earthly Father.

Antares is one of three red super giant stars that are the likely to supernova. One of the others is Betelgeuse, Orion's right shoulder. A supernova of Betelgeuse on this morning would be symbolic of the disarming of Orion, taking away his sward arm. With the warrior, the one who makes war gone, there is no need for opposition to war. It is too much to ask that the hundreds of billions of people living around these two stars give up their lives to get a message to us. But, if it is destiny for both of these red giant stars to supernova at the same time, the symbology of such an occurrence on this morning would be overwhelming.

Below Venus is the messenger Mercury. He comes to announce the Bride. Below the Bride are the other members of the wedding party. By order of their appearance they are Pluto, Mars, Neptune and Uranus. At the end of this procession is the most ancient symbol of sin. The Moon is the symbol of the Sumerian Moon God Nanna-Suen, also known as Sin. The Temple of the Moon was in Ur, now an ancient ruin in southern Iraq.

Sin was conceived before mankind was created when his father, Enlil, Lord Air, raped Sin's mother, Ninlil, Lady Air, on their first date. When it comes to sin you can't get much more original than a god raping a goddess. But by the end of this new age the Moon will have returned to its rightful job as symbol of the mother. It will set the rhythm of the reproductive cycle. The Sun will have returned to its job as symbol of the Universal Creator, the Light that shines in all of us. The Heavenly Father will have left the Earth and returned to the heavens to fulfill his mission as protector of the womb.

When Orion rises again, just after sunset, it will be symbolic of a cooking hearth. The left most star in the belt and the two knee stars are now the three stones of the cooking hearth and the Orion Nebula is the fire. The Maya see this in these stars of Orion and pattern their traditional hearth after it. The Bride is now tired after the first day of this long wedding festival. She returns to the hearth. The Matriarch is home.

In the spring of 2013, this is a spring wedding after all, the Bride, the Sun and the BrideGroom, Venus rise together as they say their wedding vows. In the late spring of 2016, just weeks before the summer solstice, the BrideGroom enters the Bride. Venus goes behind the Sun and passes very close to its center. They mate and conceive. In the above it is said that the judgment is over as Saturn rises on December 21, 2012. There is another option. One of the ancient documents suggests there is to be three and a half years of "tribulation." This would be the period of judgment. For this to be over on December 21, 2012, the tribulation needs to start in June of 2009. The other option is that the time between the start of the wedding procession and the mating, a period of three and a half years, is the time for getting the house in order for the pregnancy. I have mixed felling about the two possibilities. The three and a half years of social turbulence we will have to go through is not going to be much fun for anyone. So from a personal point of view I would like to delay it as long as possible. On the other hand, the world we live in now is not much fun for most of us. Since nothing of the Creator is ever lost, the sooner we take our medicine the better. We have no choice in the matter. It will happen when it happens. Our mission is to share what we have with those in around us and bring as much joy and happiness into the world as we can.

The happy couple is due in 5616, give or take a century or two.

So basically, live out life to the best of all possiblities and leave the rest to lie and wait. No need to hurry things along. Life is too precious to just throw away and "for those so-called believers" can't live in fear and listen to everything they say.

it will be around this year the world will end as we know it. because we immediatley think of this as a bad thing doesnt make it so. this will be a time when the general population will start to recognise the spiritual side of our existence. it will be the end of time, meaning we will realise there is no such thing as time we are not confined by time and space unless we allow ourselves to be. at this time this sounds pretty whacked to the average person but it will take for the majority to accept this until it becomes common place. when it becomes accepted life on earth will become something so beautifully perfect and magical fear, lack and suffering will be erradicated and peace will be standard.

Apocalypse (Greek: Ἀποκάλυψις -translit. apoca'lipsis, meaning literally: the lifting of the veil), is a term applied to the disclosure to certain privileged persons of something hidden from the majority of humankind.. Today the term is often used to mean "End of planet Earth", which may be a shortening of the phrase apokalupsis eschaton which literally means "revelation at the end of the aeon, or age".

Ok.. so Dec 21 2012 will HOPEFULLY be just another UNEVENTFUL day that goes by....

I also HOPE that on FRIDAY, APRIL 13, 2029 will ALSO be an uneventful day as well as when this huge puppy comes around at us again in 2036!

See what I am on about regarding "Apophis" here: Countdown to Doomsday - Deep Impact

Deep Impact is the #1 threat that was shown on this film..
You can watch the other threats listed in the video information of Countdown to Doomsday Preview

Who's to say if anything will occur in the year 2012...Well, it certainly has people talking anyway. Some points of interest to make though:

  • Asteroid impacts is certainly an issue to be concerned with because it is a very real threat...and you never know when one will occur. Yeah sure okay, they say the next event should pass us in 2027, but in truth they do not know when the next one will be. Take Asteroid 2007TU24, a 1000 ft. diameter asteroid for example, they did not detect this until last fall, and it just passed us. Some times they don't even detect these things until they pass us, as was the case with Asteroid Apophis.
  • Take a look at this video about Planet X: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjjrStDxTrc Now, I ask the question is this possible? Is there any truth to Planet X? ...yes there is. I would like to point out some research going on -

TWO years ago the solar system lost a planet. Pluto was deemed too insignificant to rank alongside Mars, Jupiter and the rest, and was demoted to dwarf planet status. Pluto's fall from favour left us with only eight bona fide planets. But what the solar system has lost, Patryk Lykawka now hopes to replace.

Lykawka, an astronomer at Kobe University in Japan, suspects a ninth planet as large as Earth is hiding beyond Pluto. So far, this frigid "super-Pluto" has escaped detection. But not for much longer, Lykawka hopes. "Within five years or so, we will know for sure if it exists."

Lykawka has become convinced of the existence of this planet thanks to a number of puzzling features in the Kuiper belt, a ring of icy debris in the outer solar system, of which Pluto is one of the largest members.

  • It appears that the Planet X theory is being taken seriously. The Search for Planet X: Testing Inferences from the Kuiper Cliff

Authors: Eric A. Roe; NAVAL ACADEMY ANNAPOLIS MD

Abstract: The goal of this project was to search a large archive of astronomical CCD imagery to test the validity of arguments regarding the existence of a hypothetical "Planet X." As proposed by Brunini and Melita (2002) this object would be a low inclination Mars-sized body residing in the Kuiper belt between 55 and 75 astronomical units from the Sun. Resonances with this hypothetical planet form a convenient explanation of the "Edgeworth-Kuiper Cliff," the observation that no low eccentricity Kuiper Belt objects are found more than 47 AU from the Sun despite numerous searches. Although the proposed "Planet X" is relatively bright its distance means that it could easily have been mistaken for a stationary object by previous searches. This project utilized the image archives of the University of Arizona's Spacewatch Project a near-Earth asteroid survey based at Kitt Peak National Observatory including data from May of 2003 to April of 2006. The survey images were taken with a CCD mosaic camera on a 0.9 meter telescope with a 2.7 square degree field of view at 1" resolution to a limiting magnitude of 21.7. A unique feature of this survey was its reimaging of the same sky area every 3 to 7 nights. The survey's rate sensitivity was 20-60 times greater than existing surveys. The final search covered approximately 10,600 square degrees of sky within 10 degrees of the ecliptic. An automated motion detection program was modified for this multinight search and processed approximately 3 terabytes of imagery. Nonetheless visual validation of the candidates was still required. The efficiencies of the software and of the human reviewer were measured as functions of rate field clutter and signal-to-noise. Quality control on the data was performed and methodologies were developed to aid in determining the unique coverage of the search and the probability of detecting the planetary candidate.
