Ok i looked for a forum that might correspond with this subject and found nothing, so here i go.
I've been married for almost a year now and my wife told me something a couple of months ago that really struck me as interesting. She said that sometimes i talk in my sleep (in what sounds like) another language.
Now the reason that i was so perplexed by this is because i have had three other women.....(x-girlfriends) tell me the same thing.
When talking about it their descriptions have all been the same. Not slurring....not gibberish....I'm speaking as clearly as i would through out the day; only difference is it sounds like what has been described as "alien talk"......they have all said that i will say something very rapidly, and then repeat exactly what i just said. So you see, it's systematic....my wife has said that it sounds like several patterns of words i say over and over.
Let me first squash any speculation and say that i do NOT actually believe that I am speaking in tongues or being channeled by some alien "mother ship".....For that matter i don't believe I'm actually speaking in another language, nor does my wife. But i have gone to several web-sites pertaining to sleep disorders and have found nothing that offers information or gives a description of this for people who talk in their sleep.
So i was wondering, has anyone else out there ever done this, 'that you are aware of'
Any and all feed back is greatly appreciated.

My daughter speaks in differant languages in her sleep and allso sleep walks through the house while doing it,she will even look right at me speaking in these weird languages like i should know what she is saying, sound asleep the whole time and doesn`t remember a thing the next morning. She has done this sense she was 5 so we are used to it but now new things are happening, after each time this seems to happen she seems to be loosing her memories.she tells me that she can`t even remember things that she did as early as the day before, she now has very few memories of her childhood and she`s only 15.now i`m getting worried, have you had memory lose with yours?

When I was younger and lived with my parents, my mother said I'd talk in my sleep in a foreign language. My boyfriend (now my husband) loaned me a voice recorder so I could record myself whilst sleeping. I don't think I've got that tape any longer but I do remember what I heard on the recorder. I'll spell it phonetically because I've no idea what I was saying.

I began moving around (turning over?) in my sleep and began making vocal noises. I said, "Dwa. Dwaah tadultra."

I've no idea what that's supposed to mean. If anyone understands that language, please let me know! LOL.

Ok well seeing how you typed it its polish I don't know what tadultra is, but dwa is 2 in polish by the way u spelled it exactly like how it is in the polish language ^.^
alot of things are spelled as they sound.

edit= i cant seem to find the word tadultra maby ill ask my parents when the get home to see if its a word.

I'm polish and speak it well and tadultra is definiatively not a word. I can't think of anything that would be similar to it either. Anyway about this whole speaking in foreign languages thing in my sleep i speak in Polish. Now that's not suprising since I know it, however I lived in the US so long that now I even think in english. I just think its kind of cool that my subconcious thinks in my native language.

My roommate this past year was a foreign student from South Korea. Every once in awhile late at night I would wake up (I'm a pretty light sleeper most of the time) and hear him babbling on and on in some bizarre-sounding tongue. He spoke Korean very regularly in my presence (while awake, on the phone with his sister for instance) and whatever he spoke in his sleep didn't sound anything like Korean. I even wrote down some of the phrases (phonetically) one night out of curiosity, to ask him about the next day. He had no idea at all what they were, and he had no idea that he had been saying them. One of them he had trouble pronouncing!

Yes I do this as well. I have had two different women tell me that at night I talk in what sounds like a very structured language, and it doesn't sound like something from this earth. They both said that it sounds like I am saying something - one said that it sounds like I am giving instructions.

A few months ago after it happened I tried to use a voice activated recorder to record it and hear what I say. I could never get it to work right so it never recorded it.

Here is the strange thing - last week I heard my 9 year old son talking in the middle of the night with some strange language. To me it sounded very real, some repetition of a phrase of some sort, but it was definitely not any language I had ever heard. I tried to grab my camera to record it, by the time I got the camera in hand he stopped talking and didn't do it again.

So whatever it is was somehow passed on to my son. If you can ever get a recording of it I would like to hear it. I'm sure someone out there that is a linguistic specialist will know what it might be.

Wow..
I hate forums.. and I would never do this till now, (Register on a random forum that is)
I had an experience so immediatedly I googled it to see WTF is going on. Only to find this forum which sorted related to what happen. Ill explain everything that happend up till this point.
Watching a movie. I Finish movie, (I had blanket,.... it was cold). I then go to bedroom to place blanket on my girlfriend. As I do, she shuffles and starts about a 15-20 second long paragraph in an ... I wouldnt say 'unknown' language,
because it sounded faintly like latin. (She only speaks English). For 15 seconds I was just standing still thinking what the **** is going on. I grabbed my phone to try and record her saying more.. I had it ready and set to go to record voice
I move her around a bit more to squeeze some more speech outta her. My intercom buzzes (My friends aunty had to pickup her car keys and I had to let her outta the carpark basement).. So I go do that for few minutes and come back.
Girlfriend is still asleep. I try to shuffle her around again to get more speech (whilst waiting on standby with recorder). She stirs and wakes up.
She says 'bubby what you doing'.
I said immediatedly 'Do you know any other languages'.
She laughs and says no, why?
I said 'Because bout 3 minutes ago you spoke a language for bout 15-20 seconds that I have never heard you speak before... it sounded faintly like latin'
She was semi laughing again and says 'Well i was watching the olympics earlier' as a joke.
I said 'this is serious, you really freaked me out... What were you dreaming bout?'
She replied 'Nothing .. I wasnt dreaming, and i cant remember saying anything'...
I said 'im gonna go on the computer for a bit cause your possessed' lol . .. so here I am.
First speculation is that people go 'perhaps she was slurring words' ..or 'playing a joke on you' ..
Straight up I can tell if someone is 'slurring' and speaking coherently. This sounded like it was a well constructed sentence. I would have loved to recieved a sample on the phone to let someone else hear. In future im gonna try to get a few recordings.
And as for the second speculation, I dont my girlfriend has the mentality of a joker, she would give up straight away and say 'I got you good!!!'.. but no she was serious when she said she had no idea.
Thoughts??
ANYONE!!! Do i get outta the house!! Is she possessed .?? WTF!?!?!!??

I have a friend who has had a broken conversation with me in his sleep, he layed down on a couch and fell asleep and started talking about "The guy with the heartless profile" and asked if "We were awake still" when it was only me. Eventually, I started yelling at him and he shut up.

Another friend of mine says his sister will have full conversations while she's asleep, and will start yelling at you if you argue. He had a few stories like his sister and his cousin being asleep and holding a full conversation with each other for like a half hour.

This probably doesn't help. but it's funny.

This exact thing happens to me. Very frequently now. Your desciption of it is nearly spot on for me.

i wake up enough at times to catch the tail end of what i am saying... it sound Arabic or ancient. I am from Virginia and live in NYC, and only speak english. It’s freaky, but doesn’t freak me out. I’m just mostly happy to know i’m not the only one doing this. What I am more interested in now, is not the how’s or why’s.... But if those of us that do this, are speaking close to same "language"

How often does this happen? And when it does happen, is there something that may have triggered it?
Like any relation in the incidents?

Wow, that is crazy!
I have been told the same thing by many people.
Sometimes, i'll even catch myself doing it. I'll wake up, or be half alseep, and half awake, and then stand up, and start blurting out things, not "words" at least "english" words, but some weird, language, or what sounds like a weird language. They say, to them it sounds a little like jibberish, but it's happened more than 20 times, and i speak the same everytime it happens.

I would very very much like to know what i'm saying, or even if it's just jibberish. It kind of sounds like it would be like a "babylon" or (Babble-on) speech.

Kind of like i'm babbling on.
Anyway, sometime, i'll have to try and record it, because it only happens like 3 times a year, at most.
But, always when i'm staying with a friend somewhere. (Well, at least, that's all i know, perhaps i do it more often, just don't know i'm doing it.)

This is very interesting. For years I have been able to speak and read Russian in my dreams, although I can neither speak nor read it in real life. I'm certain that it's Russian, because I clearly recall having seen famous Russian landmarks in my dreams, and I've watched movies where someone will say a phrase in Russian and it will sound very familiar. I won't know what it means, but I will know that I've heard and spoken this same phrase before. To the best of my knowledge, I've never spoken it out loud while sleeping, but now I'm curious.

I'm not of Russian ancestry, so I really have no idea what this whole thing stems from. Interesting that others have had something similar happen to them.

Cool thread.

I've been told I ramble on ALL NIGHT in my sleep... like I'm recording an audio book or something. I just don't shut up. OH and also, I was told (grrrrrrrr) you can ask me any question and I will answer. That kind of makes me mad. Hehehe.

When I was young, like 11 or 12, my father woke me up saying I was mumbling french once. I sort of remember doing that it was weird. I didn't know french then (HA! I really don't know it now either).

Hmm. Interesting.
