I can't see any threads on this, but it’s a very good movie. I'd say it’s the best non-animated foreign film I've seen.
It’s about a monster that lives in the Han River in South Korea, which was created by an evil American scientist pouring toxic chemicals into it. Sounds like a normal B-Movie plot so far, and it is, but unlike most B-movies it doesn’t suck.
The monster eventually becomes bold enough to make a hunt for humans on the shore of the river in front of hundreds of screaming witnesses.
Through certain events a single family end up having to wage a personal war against the monster because the authorities won’t help.
The monster actually doesn’t look that bad despite the low budget, but it was created by Weta so we shouldn’t be that surprised
It’s also rather unique because the monster appears onscreen from the off, there is no hiding in the shadows, its first attack lasts for 10 minutes and is in broad daylight.
*spoiler*
My only criticism is the dark ending, not only because I believe stories should always have a happy ending, but because I feel it robs the story of its whole purpose, although its true I because of this reason most people probably wouldn’t expect it to turn out that way.
