Okay I just saw a subtitled version of the South Korean Movie Gwoemul, or as its being called in the west 'The Host'

I can't see any threads on this, but it’s a very good movie. I'd say it’s the best non-animated foreign film I've seen.

It’s about a monster that lives in the Han River in South Korea, which was created by an evil American scientist pouring toxic chemicals into it. Sounds like a normal B-Movie plot so far, and it is, but unlike most B-movies it doesn’t suck.
The monster eventually becomes bold enough to make a hunt for humans on the shore of the river in front of hundreds of screaming witnesses.
Through certain events a single family end up having to wage a personal war against the monster because the authorities won’t help.

The monster actually doesn’t look that bad despite the low budget, but it was created by Weta so we shouldn’t be that surprised

It’s also rather unique because the monster appears onscreen from the off, there is no hiding in the shadows, its first attack lasts for 10 minutes and is in broad daylight.

*spoiler*

My only criticism is the dark ending, not only because I believe stories should always have a happy ending, but because I feel it robs the story of its whole purpose, although its true I because of this reason most people probably wouldn’t expect it to turn out that way.

I first saw the commercial for this last night. Actually, I only saw like 2 seconds of actual movie footage, but it looks damn good. It's strange how these movies come out of nowhere and are advertised like 1 week before they release. It's been happening quite a bit lately. But yeah, I may end up seeing this. Probably not right away, because 300 is released the same day as this here, but I definately want to check it out.

Aparently it was in the cinema in Scotland during November..... I must admit I never saw anything about it.
According to its English language website while the DVD is out now here for it, in the US and Canada its going to the cinema first. .... seems to jumping around, wonder why Europe got it first. Maybe its just slowly moving westward

Its good though. Kinda like Tremers level horror and black comedy meets an aquattic version of the Relic monster.
