I agree with the above. Some people try to empty their minds of all thoughts, however, just by trying that it is effort and you won't be relaxing. Just make sure you are somewhere quiet and won't be disturbed.
I remember meditating in my bedroom once, nice and quiet it was, sitting there deep in meditation, I nearly jumped out of my skin when the phone rang in the room, I had forgotton to turn the ringer off and I had palpitations LOL
