Ikan kaki itik

This looks like some kind of shark, and right at the position where these "legs" are, sharks usually have their two penises....

Sharm
Wow! Amazing!
They live near me! I'm off to the sea soon to catch another specimen grin2.gif
Too bad they are throwing the fish back into the sea for fear of bad luck.

The light color and the way that the fins are almost plastered to the body makes it look as though the fish in the picture is not fully developed, like its still a fetus or a new born. And it looks very much like a shark which do have live births.

here's another photo of the shark appearing inside the newspaper.
I've also attached a larger scan from the front page.
sorry about the quality as they are of newspaper print.

Well, if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck.....it must be a fish.
snuffypuffer

That's really peculiar!!

It reminds me of those cartoons on the TV, where something eats say a building block and its throat takes on a square form lol. Maybe the fish ate a duck!!
SnakeProphet
I suppose this is the "shark with arms".
capoeiranger
Yes, it's a shark, the name "Ikan Yu" Is indeed a shark. In Indonesia we call it "Ikan Hiu".
And I agree that the fish perhaps suffers from a misform or genetic disorders...
draconic chronicler
I agree those protuberances are a hemipenis, only with odd, webbed ends, perhaps to fan the ejaculated sperm.

X ray or dissection would prove there are no cartiginous joints in the structures, just a urethra tube for the sperm to pass from the testes to the outside world.

There must be something in the water...
