I love the TV show "American Idol." For those of you who watch it, who is your favorite, your least favorite, and who do you think is going to win this season?

Hi Super Pancake:

I really like Lakisha Jones too, and I hope she wins. I was shocked that Sanjaya made it into the final 12. Overall, I think this competition is not one of singing only; I think it has to do with the whole package: singing, showmanship, personality, choice of songs. I just think that Sanjaya is a favorite with the American audience. He has a nice personality, and I know the judges favor those performers who are good singers, but also those who are more humble.

I was gonna post that aswell, it is really funny. A lot of them think they are brilliant and we here at home laugh so much at them! You might feel sorry for the odd one or two but some contestants can't accept they aren't through to the next round, then it's hilarious. (People like these are much funnier than real comedy actors grin2.gif because they're not acting, they are seriously annoyed!!)

The women seem more talented this time around. Sanjaya has a bit of a Michael Jackson thing going on a little creepy to me. Bet the winner will be one of the gals. The dude who scats on each song, that will get old real quick to me. I want to see Paula do one of her freakouts on the show.

Worst season ever.

Hi RedWolf:

I know what you mean. I get a little irritated when they know they can't sing, and then when the judges say they didn't make it, they get mad and sometime swear at the judges when they should really be saying "Ok, thank you."

This really makes me think of perception and how it is distorted. To listen to these people go on and on about how they KNOW they're going to be the next American Idol, and to listen to how horrible they sound and have the judges say the same thing, it's really interesting. It's just like one man who stood up in court and said he is God's gift to women. The audience and the judge could both see he was no God's gift to women. lol

I just wish that Simon Cowell wasn't so harsh on the people who audition. I heard him tell one young man "You look like a monkey from the Amazon Jungle." That was totally uncalled for. I really think deep down Simon has a very low self-esteem.

Yes, and I'm embarrassed to say that some of the worst auditioners were up here in the Northwest --Seattle, Washington.

Gee, I hope this doesn't dissuade them from auditioning up here again. dontgetit.gif

I think this is the most boring and worst yet... no real talent at all, no one that stands out and looks anywhere near good never mind great.

I like the auditions too lol, I tend to lose a bit of interest once people start going through to the next round.

In the UK X-Faxtor, I am the same in that although I did actually watch the whole of the last series because I really enjoyed the people's voices.

Yes, Super Pancake, I know what you mean. Seems like something is up, but Ryan Seacrest assures us that "It's all about what the American public likes". I'm as shocked as the judges that some of the best singers have been taken off the show.

I've always liked Sanjaya ever since he became part of American Idol, but I think this should be a contest of singing ability, and if we judge on singing ability alone, Sanjaya doesn't even come close to making it to the Top 12. I guess the American public is saying "We don't want some singer who's full of themself to win." I think Doolittle fits the description of an excellent singer, sweet personality, down to earth, modest, and so I think she's got the whole package. On the same note, when Sanjaya looks into the camera with that lil' puppy dog look and down-turned smile, I just think he melts the hearts of some Americans.

Overall, though, as I mentioned, Melinda Doolittle has the total package. I hope she wins. yes.gif Don't forget to watch tonight!

I loved seeing Diana Ross on American Idol last night; she was poised and professional, as always. I admire her so much, and I know her comments will help me with my own singing.

I think what Randy Jackson had to say about Melinda Doolittle's performances is true "She blew it out the box." grin2.gif

Unfortunately, on the other hand, I'm sad to say that I think that was Sanjaya's last performance. Even on our local news report, they did a poll and way over half the public voting felt that it is Sanjaya's time to leave. I'm really glad though that the public allowed him to stay as long as he is staying. Hey, maybe we'll be surprised again, and he won't go.

Whatever happens, what Diana Ross said last night is true; "Sanjaya is Love."

I'll miss him when he goes.

last night was pretty bad but good news is Howard Stern is on the Sanjaya band wagon unfortunately its not because he is a good singer but he just wants to see Simon pull his hair out. Also I think dial Idol had Sanjaya at #4 so if that held up i think he will be safe.

I know what you mean. I don't know if it was just nerves with some of the singers. I know the place they were at was a lot bigger. But it seemed like a few of the singers were really pitchy too.

Hey if Howard Stern is on the bandwagon, maybe he's got a chance. Yeah I like to see Simon pull his hair out too. grin2.gif Do you think that Simon's negative behavior is all an act or do you think he's really that way in life?

I can just see myself married to that man, and on the first night I cook him a spectacular 3-course meal, and he says after he finishes it "That was the worse meal I've ever had actually." laugh.gif

Hey Sanjaya is at #4? Maybe he does have a chance in staying then.

I was so shocked by Wednesday's American Idol. Again, Sanjaya made it to the top 11, although he isn't one of the best singers. I felt his performance Tuesday night sounded more like a karaoke performance. I agree with what Randy and the others are saying. Sanjaya is a good singer but he needs to project his voice more to equal that of the other singers.

Sanjaya seems to be more of a timid singer. Although his movement, facial expressions and choice of songs seem to be ok, there were times I had trouble believing he was actually a part of the finalists, although I know by the love he exudes, his warm smile, and funky hairstyles, he has captured the hearts of many Americans.

Again, Melinda Doolittle did a star performance and actually had Paula in tears, as well as myself. I thought it was an award-winning performance. I know it's a little early to say, but I would bet my money on it, Melinda Doolittle is our next American Idol.

Last night was absolutely the best "American Idol" show I've seen since the beginning of the auditions. I really liked hearing some 60's music. I thought they did very well, and used their own syle to bring the songs into the year 2007.

First of all, Sanjaya totally blew me away. We had never seen Sanjaya sing like that before. He certainly broke out of his comfort zone and unleashed the tiger within by choosing the Kink's 60's song "You Really Got Me Now", and after listening to him, I have to say "he's really got me now." He even winked into the camera on his last note of the song. He got a big vote of approval from all three judges.

I really loved Lakisha Jones's performance of "Diamonds are Forever". She looked beautiful dressed in her green dress and bedecked in real diamonds provided for that performance. She's definitely star material.

The other performance I really liked last night was Chris Richardson's performance "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying". I agree with the judges who said that he sang the song beautifully without any runs, which he has a habit of doing. There is a thing such as too many runs.

The judges talk about pitchiness, but I haven't noticed any. I don't think this is very noticeable to the home audience. Overall, all singers did wonderfully last night.

I didn't like Lakisha's Diamonds are Forever the original was so much better I couldn't help to being disappointed.

Oh well farewell Stephanie Edwards, and Sanjaya sings another day. Can't wait for the Simon meltdown if he wins.

Hi Super Pancake:

I can't believe what I heard on the news last night. One woman is going on a hunger strike until Sanjaya Malakar is voted off the show. And she believes the rest of us should join her. A lot of people are saying "This lady is out of her mind." grin2.gif

Just a little reminder. Be sure to watch "American Idol" this evening at 8:00 Pacific Time. It should be very exciting as we continue the countdown.

I'm having an "American Idol" party tonight at my house, and I'm so excited! grin2.gif

Isis2200
Last night's "American Idol" was another good show. I wasn't particular impressed with the song choices or the performances, as opposed to prior shows.

I felt the best performance of the night was Blake Lewis who sang the Cure's "Love Song." And I feel that tonight, either Chris Richardson or Phil Stacey will be voted off the show.

As usual, Sanjaya Malakar came out with his own unique style, sporting a "faux-hawk"(in the words of Paula Abdul) hairstyle. I thought his singing was just ok, but when it was Simon's turn to speak, he said something to the effect that there was nothing he could say to change the American Public's decision. I thought his hairstyle was cute, and I think I found just the right word to describe Sanjaya that describes why he is such a favorite with the American public: "Charming." He IS the definition of charming.

So I think Sanjaya will last a long time....well, till the end; but Simon Cowell says in joking that he's quitting the show if Sanjaya wins. We'll see, won't we? I can't wait to see the results tonight of last night's show.

And by the way, my "American Idol" party went very well. Everyone had a great time. grin2.gif

The past couple weeks have been very exciting on "American Idol." As is the tradition on the show to have a famous singer give pointers to the American Idol contestants, a few weeks ago Jennifer Lopez was on the show. Needless to say, the show had a Latin theme. I was so happy and surprised that Sanjaya sang "Besame Mucho".......in Spanish!

Then last week the show had a Country theme and Martina McBride was the guest performer. But alas, the judges, and apparently the American audience weren't satisfied with Sanjaya's performance of Bonnie Raitt's "Let Give Them Something to Talk About." Sadly, Sanjaya Malakar has finally been voted off the show. I found the following article which suggests that Sanjaya may get a chance to meet President Bush. In my eyes, Sanjaya is still a star and will be missed by many. It'll be interesting to find out who wins now.

Note: Sanjaya Malakar will appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show this coming Monday.

NEW YORK -- "American Idol" reject Sanjaya Malakar could meet President George W. Bush Saturday.

Malakar is attending the White House Correspondents Association Dinner in Washington as a guest of People magazine.

Bush will be attending the annual dinner.
sponsor

Malakar will share a table with People magazine's other guests, Valerie Bertinelli, Zac Efron of "High School Musical," comedian Eddie Izzard and Robert Kennedy Jr.

The unflappable 17-year-old singer endured weeks of harsh criticism about his singing skills from "Idol" judge Simon Cowell before he was finally voted off the show Wednesday night. The night before his departure, Cowell called Malakar's rendition of Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About" "horrendous."

Apparently Cowell wasn't the only one glad to see Malakar go. The singer, who is of Indian descent, didn't exactly have the backing of the country -- or at least the media.

"Sanjaya is voted off American Idol -- he's the only one weeping," read a front-page headline in The Indian Express, above a photo of Malakar's "ponyhawk" hairdo.

As for his ever-changing wild hairstyles, Malakar told AP Radio News Thursday that he wasn't frustrated his appearance overshadowed his singing. He said that was "just kind of my little joke."

Malakar even had kind words for Cowell, who had no kind words for him, saying he "learned more from him than from anyone else."

American Idol has been around for quite awhile now. They also have a Canadian Idol, which I prefer as well. wink2.gif

First, I miss Sanjaya. I knew it was his time, but I miss the fun. I think he did have a Michael Jackson thing going that I wish he had played up. We could always use a Michael without the creepiness.

Last night--the Bon Jovi Night--really rocked! I usually agree with Simon, but I think he was totally wrong about Phil. He really gave a great performance.

Blake was amazing. This boy has the total package--youth, looks, and talent.

Melinda is always great, but she is too professional. I feel like she has a unfair advantage (experience as back-up singer). I still think she's an outstanding singer.

Lakisha was great last night, but I think her time has come.

Please, please, somebody send Chris Richardson home. He's got a rotten attitude.

Jordin--what happened!?! You were my favorite--hope last week's votes see you through.

Well, HowdyDoo, it looks like your favorite DID make it through to the next week; in fact, I'm happy to announce that our 2007 Ameican Idol is JORDAN SPARKS.

It was between Blake Lewis and Jordin, and Jordin took the title.

I really enjoyed the 2-hour-special last Wednesday. On that show they had singing appearances by the 2006 American Idol Taylor Hicks, and also singing appearances by Gladys Knight, Sanjaya Malakar(whom I love), Smoky Robinson, Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, and band Green Day. Overall, I thought it was a wonderful show.

More good news is that they'll be starting up audtions for the next 2008 American Idol this coming August, and if you're like me, I just can't wait!

CONGRATULATIONS JORDIN! :-)
