Something weird happened 5 minutes ago.
It's 4:40 (am) here, and I was surfing the net, and the lights were off in the room.
Suddenly, I saw a really bright flash in the corner of the room, while I was looking at the screen, from the corner of my eye.
It didn't last long, not even a second, but that's why I jumped, it was really fast, and it surprised me.

I think it was either

1. I must be tired, it's really early in the morning, and I haven't slept yet.
or
2. Since the only light in the room was the computer, and the room was really dark, I had some kind of problem with my eyes
or
3. An ant with a glowstick

I really doubt it's something paranormal, it was just weird, and I want to know what you think it was.

I think the first things you have to discount are, as you said, tired eyes, but also 'corner of the eye' phenomena.

If you can rule out both of those, then you might start looking for more exotic explanations.

P.S. Some documented hauntings do have localized light flashes. Typically these are the cases of the stronger poltergeist, or more intense hauntings.

Is this the first time it happened? Do you always still up late on the comp with no lights on, just the monitor? But it's probably due to eye fatigue .. yes.gif

I've had this too, several times, it always happens whilst I am on the computer, it's like a massive flash of lightning, at first I thought it was just my imagination, but it happened too many times, I know exactly what you mean BlackDeath, I don't know what it is either.

OK, is there a flash fest going on? I had one last evening about 7:30 if I recall the time. My first instinct was lightening, but it was in my house and there was no thunder storm going on. And yes I was also on the computer at the time. On UM actually. I wonder were you all on UM as well with your flashes? Seems insignificant but, enough coincidences and you begin to think it isn't coincidence at all.

I had a similar experience last year.

Me and my boyfriend were sat on his sofa just sort of chatting away. Tv was off, and it was evening so the lights were on. And suddenly there was a flash to the left of us. It wasnt at the corner of my eye it was more in my vision. Whats interesting is we both looked at eachother and said at the same time. "Did you see that?"

It was really weird, and there was nothing around it that could of caused it. It was sort of in the centre of the room and it was really bright! We tried re-creating it but to no avail.

It was very odd!

I almost always stay up late, with only the monitor on, but it's the first time it happened.

It wasn't coming out of the window or anything, and there wasn't any storm in Quebec, so it can't be that.

Also, it wasn't someone outside with a flash light or something.
The blinds were closed, the flash was too strong, and it didn't last long enough, and like I said, it wasn't coming out of the window.

The best way I kind describe it, is like... a small explosion of light.
You know, like "flash grenades"?

I say "An ant with a glowstick." Lol seriously though. The other day I went to the kitchen and turned on the light and started to cook dinner. I kept seeing very quick flashes of light, My first thought was something was wrong with my eyes, but then the room got real gray (like if a cloud went over the sun) and I realized the flourescent light in the kitchen was going bad. lol

I've had this happen a few times too, usually when i'm on the computer but sometimes when i'm just watching tv or something. Its just a flash i catch in the corner of my eye, but what it is, I know not! blink.gif

Do any of you wear glasses? Since I got my new ones, when I am up late with the lights off and the computer on I will see a small flash in the very corner of my vision. It''s from me moving my head a certian way and getting a flasfh off my lense.
lostspirit
happens to me too sometimes the lights will either flash or get really dim and i just think i have eye problems

It was an ant with a glowstick.

Apparently its caused when extremely bright light reflects off the vitreous (sp) fluid in your eye and causes a glare (like how the sun's light is reflected off the moon and makes it glow). I only get this when im staring at my LCD screen (never my box monitor's) for a long time without blinking. the flash of light moves across your vision doesnt it?
UndeadKitten
you know im gonna say that there was an ant with a glow stick

In order to tell you EXACTLY what the flash was, I would need more details. But here are some possibilities:

-- If there's a MIRROR in that corner of the room, the flash was a reflection of a flash in the opposite corner of the room.

-- If you wear glasses, the flash was a reflection of a flash on your computer, which flashed at mach speed from your left lens to your right lens, giving the impression the flash emanated from the corner of the room, when in fact, the flash was right there in your face...

-- If you have a brain aneurysm, the flash was obviously just another exploding blood vessel. Probably nothing to worry about.

-- Did a "click" accompany the flash? If so, someone has taken your picture.

-- Did a loud report accompany the flash? If so, uh, I think you've been shot.

-- Do you have ants? If so, search the corner for a miniature glowstick. (Warning: get rid of the ants before they get in your pants... That could be disastrous, especially if they carry glowsticks......)

Good luck with this. If you need any more help, I'll be back in a FLASH.......................................

Could it have been ball lightning or static lightning?
