I had a question about predictive dreams (hope I spelled that right..). Are there scientific of rational explanations on this subject? I'm just curious

Thanks in advance!

I do *think* there are psychological explainations to some.. for example.. I knew my daughter would be born with autism. I have been told it was a way for me mentally/psychologically to deal with the fact she would have been born with such a disorder, and severe at that. My question is though, what about all the other predictive dreams (maybe 10 or 12) i've had thru the years.. are those explained in the same way-- personally, dunno.

There is very little research done on predictive dreams. For one, because we don't know which dreams are predictive until they happen. So for example if you dream of something on Sunday, you will only understand it was predective dream on Monday or Tuesday, or whenever the dream happens in real life. A theory has been brought up on this Forum before about a theory that dreams are "visions" , for the lack of a better word, of parallel universes or of different time periods. Dreams can never be fully understood, but if the time theory is correct, we may experience past and future events in our dreams, hence predictive dreams. That's my opinion anyways.

The difference in the so called "predictive dreams" is that do come across as visions... not nearly the same as any dream or nightmare.. but very intense, vivid, and can linger on your heart and mind for days after having one..

i can only speak for myself...
all i see happens again - can be edgy knowing it will be -
but not always precise as to when will occur...
always soon after....
was born as such-- always known it like this--
to me snakes are symbolic as humans - if snake is in non- threatening position,
means to beware of trickery in others - if snake is coiled to strike or does bite--
is betrayal by others -- is their doing--i am not a participant of...

Interesting Owlscrying. Just this week I had a dream a black and red snake bit me on the leg and I knew I faced face at that moment-- b/c it was said to me there was not antivenin for that snake's bite... ugh. Betrayal!

Thanks so much for your replies

Had anyone experiences with this type of dreams? How did you dealt with that?

Once I had a predictive dream that was followed by another very similar predictive dream on the following night. I concluded from this that it would be wise on my part to take them seriousally, so I changed my outlook and actions reguarding something and thus changed the Potential predicted outcome.

.
Reason I started this topic is because, how suprising, I had this occur twice. Well, one was not really a dream just predicting something while I was full awake.
The second was a dream, and a quite sad and disturbing one at that. It was a funeral and it involved my neigbours. A week later, the husband of our neighbour died in a car crash. Both things shocked me quite badly for a while.

That is almost like adding insult to injury. It is bad enought to lose a loved one but to kind of see it beforehand must have been very sad and disturbing.
This topic is not an easy one to close for you. May I ask what prompts you to revisit it at this time?

Thank you

Well, the reason is that I wonder if I have paranormal abilities. Which is kind of strange, since I am quite scared of the thought to have them (and those two events mentioned in my earlier message didn't help either). But since I was young I have had interest in the paranormal. Perhaps I shouldn't be scared and just try to find out, to put my mind on ease.

I've had a couple of these dreams and generally keep them to myself becuase nobody beleives them and you can't proove you had them.

What I can say about searching for answers is that it is different than looking for proof.
When you need to find answers you will look at all the potentials.
When you need to have proof you are really not looking at all the potentials.
Finally, what another needs to do may not be what you need to do. Respect what another needs to do and honor as best as you can what you really need to do.
