i had this debate with my mom the other day...
the guys on there get on the internet, looking for your girls or boys... but they meet women over 21, pretending to be young... that officially makes roleplaying on the internet illegal...
these guys get arrested for trying to have sex with a minor... but the girl is over 21... she is just pretending to be a minor... my question is... how many of you think 14 is too young to consent to sex?
before you answer that... i know the main argument is... 14 is too young to realize what they are doing.... but take this into consideration...
a 14 year old boy or girl decides to go out and rape someoneone or kill someone... are they still to young to realize what they are doing or should they be treated like an adult?
should age be the only determining factor in these cases....
on the flipside of that... they had a special on the other night... a cop went out and smashed people's window and kidnapped their kids just to show them how easy it was to break into their cars and houses... and steal their kids... but he didn't go to jail? why not? he still committed vandalism.... he still moved the kids more than 15 ft. against their free will... which is legally kidnapping...
so why didn't he go to jail like the guys on to catch a predator? they didn't do anything illegal, but he did...
how do you guys feel about the above....

To consent to sex.I think a fourteen year old that goes out and murders should know its wrong and suffer the consequences.
I cannot comment on your second example, because frankly, the concept of a officer of the law breaking into peoples houses and kidnapping children as a "lesson", smells like BS to me. In my neck of the woods, if someone broke into the house and tried to take my children, I am allowed, by law, to kill the intruder. No questions asked, as long as the body is in the residence. You will have to provide more documentation than "there was a special...".

selling drugs is illegal... prostitution is illigal in some states... i don't know why the second is illegal... you can have as much sex as you want for free... but if you accept money, you go to jail? that is the dumbest law on the books...
child molestation is illigal... but talking to an adult, pretending to be a minor isn't illegal... here is a question... if i meet a girl online and she says she is 14... and i call the cops and make a report that there is a child left unattended... should the people pretending to be children go to jail?

ok, on that same note... anytime you sit in a room with more people than just yourself... it can legally be considered conspiracy to do whatever... and that is also a crime...

ok, so let me get this straight... here in nevada, the age of consent is 16... so out here, a 16 year old isn't "defenseless" but if i go to california... all the 16 year olds out there are all of a sudden "defeneless" and not capable of knowning about sex just because the law out there is 18? or in some places in the south... 14 is legal... but that means they aren't "defenceless" just because they are in that state...

Why would you call the cops for speaking to a 14 year old also if the person is pretending to be 14 then I would think that person should be investigated because there are perverts who pretend to be kid's so they can meet up and prey on them for sex. But it also does not help when under age girls run around on the net pretending to be much older so they can flirt with boys way more older than them thinking they can get a much older boyfriend. I've never understood why america has different ages of consent in different states.What if you go to the next state and don't know what the age is there then end up in jail all because you didn't know.

There was a law changed in ireland recently concerning the age of consent and underage sex.There was a survey here lately and it turned out a significant percentage of the men asked had no idea what the new law is.
I think they were considering to knock the age limit down to 14 here because kids these days seem more mature then when we were kid's and because a lot of pre-teens are getting up the duff. But they quickly put a stop to that idea thank goodness.

by the way... for those of you who do know... they are tryin to change the age of consent in nevada from 16 to 14... so would a guy having sex with a 14 year old still be a pervert even if it's not against the law?
to answer the above... they arrested a couple of guys on the show that didn't even come to the house... they briefly mentioned it though... but they did get arrested... so yes, it is illegal to talk to a grown woman that pretends to be younger...
i agree, if the person is pretending to be younger, they should go to jail... because it looks as if they are trying to pray on other young kids their age...
i know a couple of guys... including myself that have met girls in public that lie about their age... they look older and even act older... but by law, i'm in the wrong if she lies to me about her age... that's very screwed up... they should be arrested too, for false advertising.... especially if they have a fake I.D.

what difference doe it make? most girl lose their virginity willingly before 17 anyway... regardless of the law... what difference does it make if they make it a law or not... if a 14 year old girl or boy really wants to have sex... no piece of paper is going to stop it... and no amount of jail is going to stop it...

In some societies around the world 14 is the age in which girls become women and boys become men. They are not only having sex but they are married as well.

i know the law in my state and it only covers 18 years or older having sex with minors...
but you're saying that a 14 year old can indeed consent to sex... as long as the person is in their age group? but if the person is older, then they no longer have the ability to consent...

well I actaully do know of a young man of 15 who had consensual sex with a girl of 15 the parents found out and had the boy prosecuted some obscure law ( juvenile hall for a year) and the girl was not held acconuntable or responsible at all, the parents were christain and blamed the boy, denyed her part in it and it was very sad, the family was devasted , they actually held no malice for the girls parents , so many stood with them so many felt it was vulgar of the girls parents, yet sometimes some can't admit that they failed as panets so they blame... so I share this to let you all know this can happen ....I know the family very well and I felt that was vey unfair to the boy.....this happened in CA....

I observe that the parents may of not been effecitve in the methods they used to parent their teaching style, they probally preached abstinence and left it at that... , i agree many parents are unsuccessful using this appraoch , its the method that is the issue, kids will follow their peers more often than not and lie to their parents..... now believe it or not you will find many parents that will deny this ....You are also correct each kid is different and most are sexually active by 17 ,18...more alot earlier..... i don't know much about peopel only being taught abstinence... cause that wasn't the case with me or any of the girls i messed around with... i don't think that has anything to do with it... i think it involves what a guy or a girl can convince their partner to do... i was always taught "no means no" and to use protection... other than that, my mom is realistic and she tole me that she knew i was going to do whatever i wanted, whenever i wanted... she just hoped i would be smart when i decided too...

Here in Ireland a 14 yr old is considered a minor...too young...i think the age for concent is 16 here...even so IMO 16 is still a tad young but see im just saying that cuz I was still a virgin throughout my entire teens LOL so im just being baised

I think law needs to state some sort of concrete perimeter…be it an age, an act, a quantity, whatever. It needs a rule of measurement. And so it is for sexual conduct/activity. You know what the law is…what the boundaries are…or if like…you know where the line is that if you cross it, you’ve gone too far. You can’t have an effective governing law where the fence line is not specifically stated.

Sis,there are circumstances that are vile....We have a case rght now that a old man kidnapped a 9 year old girl for her house and raped and killed her , he is waiitng the death sentence...he was a family friend. tot he girl he did this too, too often its soemone they know... ...It sickens me , i wouldnt last long if one of my kids was kidnapped, this happened to my neighbor, you can' t imagine the horror for the mother she literally fainted she was not able to be calmed , our streets were blocked off, I walked the strrets with the mother scramiing fo rhtis kid and geri i get emotional still about this.... every house was searched a huge man hunt was put in place, turns out he father and mother were fighting he took the daughter to upset the mother. well the mother about knocked the hell out of him, the mom was a tiny litle thing the cops jsut stood there..he has never done it again...
To answer part of the question, I'd like to throw out yet another question - how young is too young? In ancient times, it was common to marry and start having children at 13 and 14 years of age. This was considered normal behaviour. In modern times, it would be seen as completely wrong. It seems morality works on a sliding scale, changing according to the people who ascribe to the moral law. Or, to rephrase - morality is dictated by public opinion! 14 is too young, in my opinion, but then again, I'm also subject to the morality framework that I grew up with.

i know i wonder what it is, this may be a bit bizarre , but any man i have been with has to have a clean bill of mental health by a physcologist with me, especially with kids involved...I have had only the kind of guys that commend me for being like this, if not they wouldn't be with me.... , I will not be surprised by any skeletons...i have also asked for aids tests .and stds before having sex , i don't put myself at risk, i tell my kids that too ask for a doctors appt first.... go toghether, but be responsible for yourself, its on you to do your part... Pa most courts of law will award the child to the mother as she is the better nurturer, In the state of california it is darn near impossible t get custody of the children if you are a male, it most often has to be the mother is out of it completely or she agrees....I think men can be good nurturers i have an amazing hubby who is awesome with our kids, yet he says its becasue of me watching me and learning from me, nd i make most of the decisions when it comes to the kids so its not an insult to you ....I can't do some things men can and I'm not offended .by my hubby pointing out that I can't push cars and lift heavy objects ...WE all have our things*smiles*..

I didn't read every single post like I usually do before I reply to something, so sorry if someone already said this, but to me 14 could be too young for sex, but old enough to go to jail for murder because usually people continue doing what they're doing once they get into a pattern, if that makes sense... I can't make that sentence sound the way I want it too, but anyway. If someone is out looking for sex on the internet at 14 they're probably going to continue that behavior for years.
A person who is killing people at 14 is probably going to continue killing people, so they should be locked up because someone who is out killing people willy-nilly is far more dangerous to the general public than someone who is sexually promiscuous. IMO.

This does kinda read as if you think its more common for men to not have that bond than to have the bond after becoming a parent. But I understand what you mean. I think maybe some just dont find a bond because they dont spend the time like the mothers usually do in the early years, which is most important. Most fathers work so they kinda miss out on alot... which is why the mothers usually get the custody later.... its not because one is a better nurturer.. its just because one has spent more time in doing it(which is usually the mums), so when its goes to court they award custody to the one who has put the most time in that role and who the child is used to being with on a day to day basis. Anotherwords for me I got custody and my child goes to his mums on the weekends because I was the one who always looked after him day to day(my ex worked.. I stayed at home with a newborn).. so when we split the courts could see that it would not be in the best interest to take him from his main home and carer just because she was his mother. So it depends... some guys are way more nurturing than some girls hey, and the courts over here give custody to the ones who actually look after the child. Not just to the mothers, thank God.
