My main problem with the game is that i've always felt like i'm playing with action figures and toy cars in model cities.
I don't want to have that feeling in the games anymore, it's boring. Make senses?

Some terrific info there. I'm looking forward to following a hot pedestrian through the city lol.

I wonder if there will be kids and/or animals finally?

Exactly what I said...feels like I'm playing with toys.
woody82
Well just a question here as i personally feel GTA is the better series, but if your saying its like playing with toys, is the likes of the Getaway more realistic and the style that GTA should take?

Still i can understand it does feel like toys at times. BUt its a good part of GTA.

I highly doubt there would be kids or animals. The GTA brand is already controversial as it is, adding kids and animals will get PETA and all sorts of other people on there backs. ph34r.gif

But it would be nice.

* Pedestrians are far more realistic in GTAIV than in previous GTA games - they sit on benches, smoke cigarettes, read books and generally act like any real pedestrian would in the middle of a street.

* There are no planes in GTA IV because there is only one city, and Rockstar want the game to seem realistic. That means there will be no rollerblades, no unicycles, probably no jetpacks and indeed no planes. Rockstar are giving choice and variety which feels right for the character. However there will be motorbikes.
* After an initial load sequence, the game will never load again. Not even during exterior-interior transitions (and vice versa).

wil the predestrians die more realistically lik eof lung cancer due to smoking and stuff also if you want realistic stick som ekids in as predistrians i know all the woohah that would raise about shooting and running over kids but yeah they should be in it
Its a bummer about the planes I can understand no jet or massive planes but i think the dodo should still be there something small anyway if you want to get across to places without driving or boating

5. Interiors for every building.
7. More Realistic(but not too realistic).

more realistic? see above
interiors of every building isee that they will be repeated i mean teh interiors will be like the way the houses were on san andreas when you rob them. there may be 5 different layouts to a house but they are repeated over and over and is ee that happening here where there will be different layouts but reapeated and if you go into a multistory building you will be restricted to ceratin floors. this is of course understanable cause it would be ahuge effort to put individual detail in

I think there are other reasons GTA4 will have no planes, it being set in a NYC-esque area...

Could Master Chief Cause a GTA IV Delay?

Halo 3 comes out a few weeks before Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV, but Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter thinks that Take-Two may decide to push GTA IV back another few weeks to put even more space between the two major fall releases.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter is on a roll. Not only did he weigh in on Activision's recent performance, but he's also provided some very interesting comments about Take-Two in advance of the company's second quarter fiscal report on June 11.

He's maintaining a "Sell" rating on the stock and believes that a successful turnaround at the company will take more than a year to complete. "We believe that new management understands what is required to turn the company's fortunes around, and believe that they will take prudent steps to return the company to profitability," he said. "However, we believe that there are significant structural changes required in order to control costs, and believe that these changes will take more than a year to complete. On the revenue side, new management is saddled with the decisions made by the prior management for at least another year, and we do not expect new games such as The Bigs, All-Pro Football, Fantastic Four, or The Darkness to be wildly profitable."

He added, "We also think that the new management will take steps to cut costs as soon as practicable, resulting in studio closures and charge-offs for games in development."

The real interesting part of Pachter's note, however, is that a delay to the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV could be considered. He believes Take-Two may push the game out a few weeks for both financial reasons and to get further away from the (likely) mega blockbuster Halo 3. As it stands currently, Halo 3 is launching on September 25 and GTA IV is expected on October 16.

"We believe that it is possible that the company will choose to 'throw in the towel' on FY:07 by shifting the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV by a few weeks, increasing the losses incurred this year and improving the company's prospects for FY:08," Pachter explained. "We believe that a two-week delay would provide a reasonable gap between the launch of Halo 3 and the launch of GTA IV, and would actually help sales of both games. In addition, a delay of the 'normal' SKU for GTA IV by two or three weeks could allow Take-Two to maximize revenues from the $89.99 Collector's Edition of the game by shipping that SKU on October 17, and to increase overall profitability."

Halo 3 had better not delay the game. I think two weeks apart from their releases is just fine, but I also kind-of thought there would be a delay, but only by a day or two (like Vice City Stories), not a few weeks (like GTA 3)! I have the special edition pre-ordered already, so I just hope it comes around the sixteenth (if they decide to ship pre-orders first)

A Take-Two spokesperson has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that the episodic content planned for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusively released for the Xbox 360.

Talk of an exclusive deal began following the release of Take-Two's Q2 financial report on Tuesday. The report stated that the episodic content would be released on 360 during the 2008 fiscal year - with no mention of PlayStation 3.
Now a company representative has told GI.biz, "The Grand Theft Auto IV episodic content is exclusive to Xbox 360."
The financial report also stated that fellow Take-Two title LA Noire is due out in fiscal 2008. The spokesperson suggested that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases are likely, stating, "LA Noire is being developed for next-generation systems."

GTA IV will launch on both consoles on October 19.

1) When you move, there is a slight vibration with every footstep when you run

2) The HUD has been removed- no health or armour indicators, it is all visual- and if you have armour, you actually have a bulletproof vest which visually deteriorates

3) Flame thrower and rocket launcher are still in the game

4) Explosions are larger than ever, and there is a mission in the game based on creating an awesome chain reaction of car explosions- apparently this looks awesome

4) Cars don't explode unless you blow them up - I.E they wont explode if you just keep crashing or hitting them - you have to rocket launch into them

5) Niko doesn't get tired- you can run forever, it just wont be as fast as previously.

6) more RPG elements, I.E - for a mission, you must catch the train at 7pm, and if you don't, you don't get to do that particular mission (they just gave this as an example, the scenario isn't confirmed in the game yet)

7) Gore is back and better, bullet wounds show, blood appears where you shoot people, they limp if you shoot them in the leg, and hold their arm if you shoot their arm. Apparently when you run someone over it is disturbing (but they gave no more detail)

No eating, girlfriends, keeping fit- but your skills do improve over time (driving etc)

9) Secret vehicles and “plenty of goodies” at 100% completion- no more details given (either not revealed or simply not known yet)

10) Land size is bigger than the 3 cities (not country) in SA put together

11) graphics are better than Saints Row - draw distance is literally as far as you can see

12) new trailer will be on the internet 28th of June

no link but you can find this anywhere.

Sucks at the no girlfriend thing. And no hud is interesting but I wonder how we will get around town though. The Gore sounds awesome AO rated game confirmed!

Sorry, but I think that's fake. I read it on IGN from a guy who claimed he got it from the Turkish Xbox Magazne (there's no such magazine). I guess that explains why there are no links or scans hmm.gif The only things that's true is the new trailer coming out June 28th.

NYC = sh**ty. we've done it damnit. TWICE. I was hoping for, i dunno, Toyko or something.
More serious tone is a plus, i was getting bored of the same old cheese and offense humour.

I'm happy with it for the most part, but will need to see more. One city though, from what we know, is really weak. Almost feels like a step back, not that San Andreas was much of a step forward.

NEW INFO and SCREENSHOTS!!

-Drive-bys are back, and you can use pistols
-A charecter named Little Jacob, a Carribean arms dealer, helps Niko get weapons
-You'll have the ability to hail a cab
-Niko can go to a place called "Tw@ Cafe" laugh.gif , which is an internet cafe, and upload his CV (curriculum vitæ), or résumé, to get an interview with and kill a man named Goldberg. GamesTM magazine said "GTA IV's web is accessible from any computer in the game, and provides a hub for all sorts of interactivity within Liberty City. The extent of GTA IV's World Wide Web use is still being kept under wraps, but we're promised that it's huge, and very, very important."
-A place has been mentioned called Castle Gardens, which is where Niko goes to see a person named McReary. The place is a "coast-side hangout overlooking The Statue of Happiness."
-Another neighborhood is "Rotterdam Hill"
-The Times Square look-alike in GTA IV will be called "Star Junction"
- The magazine also said "any crime you commit will give you a wanted level." and "instead of the cops just screaming to your position, the star rating you're 'awarded' translates to a visible search area on the radar. If you manage to escape the circular search area then your wanted level will flash and disappear. If you're spotted, though, the center of the circle changes to your position, and you have to start again."
-Every street in the game has a name, and the cops will use this to you down. "If you're spotted on Star Junction in a Comet, for example, you'll hear it on the police radio. Escape the police's line of sight, however, and the ball's suddenly in your court."
-There is a store called "Perseus", where Niko sold a suit and shoes
-If you're riding in a cab, the camera will go into first-person
-No more Pay n' Sprays
- Damage (i.e. gun wounds) will be visible on Niko
-Every crime you commit gives you a wanted level, as long as nobody's watching.

Well I suppose this game is just another reason to get a 360 as my second console with the Wii. The updates and what info has been provided so far are indeed going to improve the game but just like many others I was hoping for more than one city, or at least a completly new and original city. I`m sure it will still be as enjoyable as the other GTA's though and maybe there will be some real innovation with the gameplay and story as power of the PS3 and 360 certainly allows it.

Am I the only one here that just doesn't care about GTA anymore?
AztecInca
^I know many who are personally over the GTA games and aren`t particularly interested in the new one unless it has signifcant innovation of the gamplay and story. They are sick of the same old formula, but like many others will still probably end up buying it regardless of just how much innovation its contains. Its not a console-seller for me anymore but it will make it easier to justify buying a second console.

Rockstar rep says 'complete experience' only on 360 - plus new screens and details

It's no secret that the long-ago announced downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of the game. According to Rockstar Games spokesman Hosi Simon, however, there won't be any consolation prizes for those who choose to buy the PlayStation 3 edition instead. When asked during a preview of the game (which you can read about here, if you haven't already) whether there would be any advantage to owning the PS3 version that could rival the 360's exclusives, Simon said, "not that I can think of."

"They're identical games," Simon continued. "We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want.

"But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose," Simon said.

Downloadable episodes or no, the game looks set to be an incredible experience on both platforms, and we've got a new batch of GTA IV screens and art to prove it (just hit the Images tab above to see them all). To find out much more about what you can expect from this sprawling underworld epic, check out the meaty details revealed by our latest preview.

Super Pancake
I guess the real reason why the delay is out

Xbox 360 problems delay GTA IV. Microsoft bans Playstation 3 release.

Problems with development of GTA IV on the Xbox 360 has meant the game has been delayed until April 2008.

GTA IV was due for release on 17th October. Rockstar have been using the Playstation 3 as the lead platform. An Xbox 360 team have been working besides the core team adapting code. Whilst the PS3 Blu-ray disc will easily accommodate the game, there have been problems fitting the game on to a single 360 DVD disc. Microsoft will not allow the game to be released on 2 disc as they are concerned the 360 will be compared unfavourably to the PS3. The situation has led to tension between Dan Houser and the Microsoft Empire as there is currently no way the game can fit on a single dvd.
Microsoft are currently working on a new compression technology for DVD9 discs, however this wont be available until next year. In a politically worded statement Sam Houser said "The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms."

Whilst the PlayStation 3 version is all set for completion at the end of this month, Microsoft have tied Take Two into an iron-clad legal agreement that forbids them from releasing the game on any format unless the Xbox 360 is ready. This has meant that whilst the PS3 version will be ready for October, Microsoft have directly prevented its release. That's what happens when the Houser brothers sell their a*** for the Microsoft dollar. Stupid limey gimp-bags.

Somewhere else I heard that PS3 being hard to develop for was the cause. I know they had issues with not every 360 having a hard drive earlier. Also, if PS3 is the lead platform, why have the screens plus videos been running on the 360?

Yeah I heard that one too. In fact some games that came out on the 360 that were supposed to come out on the ps3 all of a sudden disappeared.
