My (now ex disgust.gif ) girlfriend is a native american, she is part of the shahone-bannock (sp) tribe. One day she was telling me a story of "animals" her family has claimed to see and are part of her tribes legends called waterbabies. Apparently, they are spirits who take the form of small cuddly animals down by rivers, they seem incredibly docile, but when you approach and try to pet, grab, feed, or whatever, they stand up and show a human head under their bodies with razor sharp fangs and attack.

Has anyone else heard of something like this?

I remember reading a book with some stories like this before, It was like Native American Legends or something, I'll ask my mom, I believe she has it.
MoonPrincess
No. I've never read or heard about anything like that. Sorry.

So, do the waterbabies have a human head, or are they sitting on a severed human head?

Thats what I thought. Not meaning to be racist or anything, but the native americans have alot of legends which are ridiculous.
rudie
no, they have a human head under the animal skin...sort of like skin walkers but not really...its more like a human under an animal..yet the animal part is still functioning like a real animal, looking about, eating, etc.. you couldnt tell the difference unless it reared up on its hind legs

(sorrry if this explaination isnt quite clear..its my cousins birthday and we had a pretty good party) rofl.gif
