Full Version: I-Ching: can it tell the future?

You may have heard of the I-Ching. It's sort of like the Tarot, except when you do a reading it involves throwing coins.

Anyway, I've been experimenting with it lately, and the results have been intriguing. I'm a huge football fan, and the Packers are my favorite team. (bear with me here.) This may sound stupid, but I did a reading on how the remainder of their season would go, right before their most recent game against the Detroit Lions.
The Packers are a very good team, and the Lions are very, very bad, and I totally expected the Packers to beat their -expletive-. However, this reading said that they would lose! That worried me, and so I wasn't terribly surprised when the Lions came out with an upset 22-14 win.
Now, I know that isn't very much evidence, but that wasn't all the reading said. It said that the Packers would win their next game (which is against the Bears.) The Bears are also a bad team, so one would expect a blow-out win, but the prediction was that the Packers would just win by the skin of their teeth.
So, I'll update you guys on the outcome of that game, (12/7/03) and we'll see if the I-Ching can go 2 for 2. Judging by everything I've read about it, the I-Ching is very accurate, and useful. I've only done three or four readings so far, all of which have been at least somewhat prophetic, and I'm going to do some more, see what comes of it. Anybody have any suggestions for readings I could do, like for some upcoming event, so we could see how accurate it is?

Games have a 50/50 chance, try something that doesn't. Remember, psychics tend to be good at guessing people, and since you are that person you can believe what you want.

The problem with trying to read the future is that the future isn't set, at least I don't think so. So "chance" always has to be a factor. But if that's true, the readings should be wrong on a regular basis, 50% of the time. So if my readings continue to accurately predict the future....

(And although a football game would technically have a 50/50 chance, there's a reason why some teams are favored in a given game: they're better than the other team, as was the case here. (BTW, I predict the score will be Packers 22, Bears 20.))
