Looking more like infomercials created to attract attention to Steven Spielberg’s “Taken’ series than in-depth documentaries, these so-called ‘new investigations’ into some of the more famous and unexplained UFO cases have been uninspiring and seem deliberately scornful. After an outright slam job which seemed dedicated to destroying any credible evidence that something alien might have crashed near Roswell, NM, in 1947, the Sci-Fi Channel obviously realized that airing an anti-UFO Documentary about Roswell wasn’t especially helpful in attracting UFO buffs to the Sci-Fi Channel for other shows. While their treatment of the Kecksburg, PA, UFO crash-retrieval case was better then what the Roswell Case had to endure, it was anything but a cohesive treatment of the incident. Maybe it was because Bryant Gumbel couldn’t find any social injustices to attack as Host of the show, but it seemed as though he and everyone else involved in the project could have cared less about it.

Sci-Fi’s Kecksburg program seemed to deliberately infer that one would have to be a True Believer in conspiracies to accept all the eyewitness accounts and document evidence that supports the idea that something from another world landed there. Beyond presenting new and seemingly delusional witnesses to the event, many of the older eyewitness accounts by members of the Kecksburg Fire Department were barely covered, presented in a surreal light and unfairly debunked. Anyone who has seen the late 1980’s Unsolved Mysteries treatment of the same case which still runs occasionally on the Lifetime Cable Channel would immediately see the difference between the two presentations.

Finally objective reporting on UFO's. I wish I could have seen it.
