I've followed the UFO topic for a very long time, but I hadn't heard about this case until recently. The number of witnesses and supporting evidence should make it one of the best documented cases

The year: 1949

Ohio, a searchlight operator catches a roundish object in his beam. He later catches it again on 10 different occassions over a number of months. There are large number of eyewitnesses, including military, clergy, reporters and scientist. Photos and video also taken.

Most interesting (or disturbing) was the object's size, estimated to be 10,000ft in diameter! (Nearly two miles across!). It dispatched a number of smaller, triangle-shaped objects.

Oct. 23, 1949. Place: St. Peter and Paul, Norwood. 1915 to 2245 hours. I turned on the light and picked up object at 1600 mils. Among those present were William Winkler, Father Gregory Miller, Robert Linn (Managing Editor, Cincinnati Post) and Leo Hirtl (Post reporter). Reverend Miller and Linn phoned Wright-Patterson and reported object to Intelligence Officer. About 2200 hours, two distinct groups of triangular-shaped objects seemed to come out of the main disc. Each group had about five objects. They came down the beam then turned out of the beam. The same performance was repeated about half hour later. The disc was still visible when I turned out the light for the night.

Very fascinating case, never heard of it before...

Just from reading your post, it seems like a very interesting case. I'll have to take a look at it later, when I get back from school.

Really unfortunate that they lost these 'prize photos'; I wonder if somebody still has them tucked away in a filing cabinet somewhere, and doesn't realize what they are. disgust.gif

Why do they always lose the photos or whatever? Seems pretty interesting, all in all, though.

I haven't seen the video. I suspect because this happened in 1949, it was filmed with equiptment that would be difficult to digitize and upload to the internet.

Usually convenient disappearance of evidence sends up a red flag for me, but this case is still interesting due to the number and caliber of witnesses, and the size of the object.
