Alot of people have tried Lucid Dreaming. I've done it for as long as I can remember. For awhile, I stopped. Then I picked up after awhile, trying a new approach. What I do is tell myself over and over and over again what I want to dream about, (my friends hanging out together again, my sensei coming back to life, etc.) then I go to sleep and 99.9% of the time, it works. The ither .1%, I don't dream at all. Most of the time, my dreams involve Astral Projection and Future Sightings. I guess that's it. Please don't ruin this with severe skeptism. Any other techniques or ideas would be a nice topic thread thingy. New suggestions would be welcome.

.... I sound like my mother now. What the heck, just tell me your technique.... grin2.gif

I've never tried that (repeating over and over again to Lucid Dream).

I am going to see what happens if I do that though lol. Hopefully, I can post back to report original.gif

The technique that I use for lucid dreaming is quite simple. All you need to do is carry a clock of some fashion around with you all the time, then simply check the time on the clock and wait a few seconds and check it again, you should do this as many times a day as possible. Then when you go to sleep you will automatically check things in your dream in the same fashion. The difference is that when you are awake and you check the clock the time will be the same time, when you are sleeping and you double check times (or items) they will be different. Then you can determine that you are sleeping and therefore begin to lucid dream.

There is also a device which I have never tried that is supposed to help you Lucid dream Nova Dreamer they comming out with a new one. This older model is still available from other places online.

Well actually, I can't say that way would work for me. You see, in my job, I have to look at a clock every few minutes (don't ask me what I do, I love my work, but it does entail clockwatching all day lol), I've been there a number of years, so if was going to work I think it would have done so by now.

I have had lucid dreams but I haven't tried them at will yet. (I would have tried it last night, but I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, mind you it was 4am LOL)

The technique is MILD. You're basically preparing your mind to lucid dream. It doesn't always work, but when it does, it's usually spontaneous in the middle of dream. I've had high success rate with MILD as opposed to WILD, but with WILD, it takes more practice.

This should be in Mysteries Of Mind, rather than the Metaphysics forum.

A few years ago I started to read about lucid dreams and I tried all sorts of techniques to try to induce one but they never worked. Then a while ago completely unexpectedly I was asleep and I can remember just thinking, "Hey wait, this is a dream!" and after realizing that, I could just walk around and do what I wanted. It only seemed to last for around 2-3 minutes before I woke up, which sucks, and I haven't had one since.

It would be completely amazing if they were able to last for a full hour each and every night, like living in a seperate life; except where you're God. tongue.gif Although I don't know if any one is ever able to do it that successfully?

But anyway, I started trying to induce one again in the last few days. Yesterday I did the 'reality check' method where you look for signs that you're still awake (check the time, pinch your arm etc.) regularly. Problem is I just didn't do it regularly enough, and fell asleep almost straight away. linked-image But yeah, I'll try that again tonight.

Something I've also been trying is making a note of all of my dreams as soon as I wake up before I forget anything, supposedly that helps.

Can someone explain the WILD technique?

Lucid dreaming isnt uncommon for me, i have had those long before i ever heard of it. But it always happens one minute or two before i wake... So i know then that i dont have much time left before i wake, I wish it could last the whole night. tongue.gif

When I was a child, I had a dream that my house was under attack by bandits or thieves or something like that and when I realized it was a dream, I woke up. I knew that they were not a threat, because I knew that dreams are dreams, but I didn't exactly take control of my dream. Perhaps that's because I was too scared to want to continue the dream in any fashion. And I suppose because I was a child, too young and innocent, I didn't want to make them pay with blood like I would now. Anyway, yeah, I'm gonna try both the listed techniques, this does sound pretty interesting. And btw, one person said that the clock technique didn't work because their job involves clockwatching. I'm guessing you work with a computer or near a clock that is immediately visible without having to move much. I would reccomend two things, inspite the fact that I've never tried this and have no idea what I'm talking about, anyway, maybe you should try putting a watch in your pocket, and pulling it out all the time. Do something that involves movement. And don't stop when you get home from your job, do it all day. Anyway I'm off to buy a watch.

I tried last night repeating, "I will lucid dream tonight" I repeated that until I went to bed, and I dreamt something that couldn't happen, and I didn't lucid dream, yes I realize that it was my first time trying, and you probably wont get it the first time, but just saying...I'll tell you if I get better lol

my question for everybody is... "How do you dream?" The only times I dream are when im extremely troubled. Extremely. and that is Extremely rare. when i do dream its something dorky. Like the other night, one of the few times I dream I had a dream my family of 7 moved to a house with only two bedrooms. I was angry. I had the chance to lucid dream but i didnt. I knew i was dreaming but i couldnt control what I did. I have tried everything. except meditating i dont know how to meditate properly.

please tell me how to:

1. meditate
2. dream more often

Everyone dreams. Heck, the average person has 4 or 5 dreams every night. It isn't trying to dream that's the goal. It's remembering them. Practice dream recall and you'll notice it for yourself. Dream Recall is pretty simple, but for some it may not come easy. At first you'll recall one dream, hopefully one every night, and then more. original.gif Good Luck

Do what thou wilt, huh? Isn't that also the pagan view of the Moral Law? Satanists too? I used to believe that. I have my reasons. No hate here.

As for my response to 'lucid dreaming', isn't that when your dream is very real-like and, say you stop doing something and say to yourself, "gee, I think I'm dreaming". I have those a lot. It seems so real that whatever reality or event playing out in your dream is your universe. Your present truth.
I like talking with my dream friends and creatures. They say things that astound me and often agree with me that I am dreaming. Sometimes it's a nightmare, and I love those because I usually turn to face my 'evil chaser' and find it to be nothing more than a squirrel! Sometimes, I can fly. It's like I just think it, or will it. I take off fast, or I might move around like a damaged helicopter! lol All good. Dreams are nice. I have a few a night.

well like most people (I think) that lucid dream say that they do it with weird dreams the problem is, ALL my dreams (almost) are weird! Really, but I've never lucid dreamt (if I did i sadly did not remember it)
