Sorry I do not have a pic at this time being my hard drive was erased and I am too lazy to get it off my camera, but I assure you I will get one up for you to see. This is rather odd, I have taken many pics in my house but a few times I have gotten major 'orb' activity, such as Thanksgiving, or when my mother was about to leave for her date. Now these are rather important activity's for my family, but the other times I've taken a pic, of like my dog or myself nothing has shown up. Any ideas?

Orb threads are prone to extreme debate. Beware! I believe in Orbs incidently.

Yes, tell of any weird occurancies, but Orbs in photos are too easily explained, in my opinion.

It's hard to determine exactly what "orbs" really are. It's possible that they are spiritual entities, but by no means does it indicate that spiritual entities reside in your household.

Sorry to be the one to bring it up but those arent orbs at all it is a phenomena called "dust". Each time you move a body part it causes air to be displaced and other air to rush into the space created by the movement of your body part. This creates what is known in the scientific world as a "draft" that in turn evokes the spirit of the dust particles to swirl around the room and be illuminated by the flash of a camera and therefore show up on your picture.

To anybody saying they are orbs: hit a cushoin and take a snap with your digital camera. I guarantee that you will get a similar picture with lots of dust particles. Now compare your picture to all other supposed orb photos. Do they look identical? If the answer is yes then what we have is dust. If you still believe it is an orb then you are not subject to hard evidence. This proves that it is dust, unless you can PROVE that it isnt dust you have no other worldly reason to suspect that it is spirit energy, bar insanity or wishful thinking. Please can people start to look beyond their beliefs and do this little experiment to avoid all further orb, dust debates.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Lol its just common sense and let me tell you, a hell of a lot of people seem to lack the god given ability to engage in common sense when reviewing the paranormal.

Ok then 99% are dust, I can believe that, but that one percent isn't.

I have taken a gudzillion pics in my life, & I've had Only 2 ever in which orbs appear in them. Both appeared in the week after the death of my parents, and both appeared in photos of the family together such as the pic from OP. Both times, the orbs were above my sis's head while she sat at table with four little kids. And it hasn't occured since then, nor before that point. I belive this is a real orb photo... spiritual not dust. imo of course.

This has NOTHING to do with common sense-- unless the human intellect is designed with full capacity to understand mechanisms of photography at birth. Give me a break.
Im so fed up with orb pics, no lie I'm sick of them, but this particular one could (very well) be something OTHER than dust particle, or the other common sense explanations of photo glichs, that is. Well, why? It's family surrounded in one location, and many kids are involved in the photo... common sense, paranormally! thumbsup.gif

It's true, there is no conclusive evidence at all that orbs are evidence of paranormal activity within a home. As many people have already said, around 78% of the time, it's just dust.

Let's look at it from a global perspective, when a group goes ghost hunting, they are almost always going hunting in a large, dusty building that hasn't been taken care of. Their movement will ALWAYS screw around with the air, causing dust to go everywhere.

If you could show the other pics you have of this kid and orbs, that would be helpful though, but for the moment I'm really not convinced. Then again, if you start up a thread about orbs you'll likely have each party at eachother's throats by the end of it =P

Finally! I'm also fed up with these "orb" crap. Many sites saying they have ghost pictures are disappointing. You load up the page in hope to find something to make your heart rush, when you find a lot of dumb descriptions and pictures saying: "Orbs in the graveyard" or "Evil orb on Halloween". Yeah right! a small spot of light ... oh my God! how scary!

There is also a lot more crap I'm not too happy with, not in this day and age with high tech software such as Photoshop or other picture editing software with which you can do practically anything.

I've taken so many 'orb' pictures, and the common factor with all of them is that I had my flash on. All the pictures I've taken without the flash were orbless. Either i've been to a lot of haunted places where the spirits only like the flash, or it's dust particles reflected in the flash. I do believe in ghosts, but I don't believe they appear as orbs. The only time I may go "hmmmm maybe" is if the said orbs were visible before the pic was taken.
Dark Arc
The pic WAS flashless! The only light as the light from above. Which was flourecent.
rhyknow
It's possible that the dust was illuminated from the flourescent lighting then, you don't always need a flash to illuminate it

BINGO! The orbs are just natural particles in the air catching the light from the flash and therefore showing up as an out of focus ball. This happens outside when there is moisture in the air or just before it starts to rain. For all of those people asking for more evidence do an experiment yourself by whacking a cushion or taking a photo outside when its starting to rain, it produces the same photographic anomoly. Dont ask me for evidence do it yourself to prove to yourself what causes the this anomoly. Try it with and without a flash and compare the results. Thousands of these alleged orb photos have appeared due to the massive popularity of the digital camera. More people take photos, more anomolies appear and more dust pictures get posted onto the net masqueraded as photos of ghosts. I myself believe in ghosts but i have the common sense to see beyond my beliefs and look at what really could be occuring.

That grey stuff you find on top of your wardrobe when it hasnt been cleaned for a while is called dust. How do you think it got there? It is all around us all of the time and when we open a door or move around we create a draft that shifts this stuff around and lands it on top of your wardrobe and lights. When nobody is opening doors and moving around it drops from the air and settles, hence the need to "dust" every week so as not to get a build up of it on your furniture. It is all very mundane stuff this orb photography. No matter how much you may want this to be evidence of spirits or loved ones looking over you it just isnt. It is dust or moisture. Plain and simple.

Before you decide to flame me PLEASE take the time to do the cushion experiment. If it looks like dust, behaves like dust and photographs like dust... it probably is dust.

Dont have nightmares

A crazy question but is the woman in the black sweatshirt with the kid on her knee in the middle of shot called Tamsin?
rhyknow
Not all orbs are natural ones. But it tends to be easier to discern what's explainable and what isn't if it's captured on video. For example I saw on an episode of TAPS an orb that was flying all around in front of the camera. There's no way that could be natural. It's just easier to tell when you can see how it's moving.
