What's the point? I can see you went to a great deal of effort to look up BM's posts, but at the end of the day, why bother?

Nobody wants to read a load of posts taken from threads all over the place... and taken out of context because we can't possibly know what else went on in any of the threads you take quotes from unless we read the whole thread. blink.gif

It will be one quote after another... and they'll all blend and we'll all go dontgetit.gif blink.gif and move on.

actually i provided the links and the post #... so anyone could indeed see the context of each post...

do what you want...if you are happy with it ..knock yourself out

I have not been a stranger to say how I feel about the bible...nor will I be its my personal beliefs...so what

exactly... but you act as though i'm not welcome to mine... whenever i post what i believe... you come with some post about me not being tollerant or some other B.S....

when i am presenting my point of view just like you and everyone else on this board...

Here is how it is...

You have your views on the bible...you agree with them...good for you...(heck ive told you this many times before)

I on the other hand have my views and how I see them.......and I am every bit as entitled to say so....just like you

no one has to hold the exact same opinions on certain beliefs like the rest....it dont work that way...look around you..skeptics of all sorts..thats how it goes

I dont want you to agree with me thaphantum...WHY should I??? i made it very claer to others in another thread...I like my ways they work for me, i sure dont want anyone else following God in the same personal way I do...Why should I?? cuz i see my beliefs are strong for me and only me

You got your own beliefs...if you are proud...good...if you ever decide to take up another faith (saying if).....thats again your choice...nobodys beeswax

thaphantum..long before you came here, do you think no one has ever accused me of being an atheist?? darn straight they have lol

AND...because I follow God..I have been accused of being a chrsitian too...trust me I get bashed BOTH SIDES...

What really matters is how your belief makes you feel and to heck with what others ee it...as long as you are happy..thats what should matter and so what if someone else dont agree...who cares??

In the Satanic list of rules...it mentions it is wrong to rape and wrong to abuse a child, but in the 10 commandments it don't say anything about this, and we today see rape and sexual abuse to a child (who is without sin), as WRONG so VERY sick twisted and WRONG....they don't care if the woman is married or not...when it comes to rape

Can anyone please point out if it reads anywhere else in the bible, where it says...do not rape(married or not) & do not sexually abuse a child in any way/ abuse children period??

Anyone??
Cheers
I just thought I'd bring up the original post to remind people of the topic we're supposed to be discussing. If you really want to continue with your personal arguments, then take it to PM. Thank you.

Here's the link to the NIV online if you want it.

http://www.biblegateway.com/

I'll look around, there may be even less complicated versions than that one.
The NIV is one of the more common translations available these days. There are easier translations to read, but they sacrifice some level of precision in translation in order to make it more readable (The Good News Bible comes to mind). The NIV is good, but not the best for word-for-word literal translation. The English Standard Version and the New American Standard Bible both translate the text much more literally than any other translation to date. However, because they are much more literal, the grammar is a lot closer to how it is written in the original Greek and Hebrew, which makes it harder to read at times.

But heather is quite right - most translations are generally similar to each other. Just remember that they are translations, and it may be helpful to read it with a Greek/Hebrew dictionary at your side to further study the root meanings of the words that are translated.
