(Bayou La Batre, Ala.)– Holding her pride and her walking cane, 81-year old Margie Steiner surrendered to authorities Thursday morning, charged with selling crack cocaine to undercover agents from her home on Mallette Street in Bayou La Batre. “I feel bad for what’s happened to her but that’s one more drug dealer we got off the street,” said Bayou La Batre Mayor Stan Wright.
Shortly after being taken into custody, Steiner was processed at a makeshift booking station inside the Bayou La Batre Community Center. She was one of 37 people arrested Thursday morning on drug charges in South Mobile County.
The result of a year long investigation all captured on video tape, in which suspects were allegedly caught on camera selling narcotics to undercover agents.
