I was recently discussing this with someone day at work and I decided to see if I could find any recent sightings of the "Goatman" and I came across an old topic on here from 2006 where a man told the story of what happened to a friend of his. So of the replies he got tried to brush it off like it was a story made up. I've got a similar story to it that was relayed to me by two different people years apart in the same area. But I know for a fact that it wasn't something they made up. Reality for one may not be the same for another. I believe that it's all according to the individual because each person's mind is open to different things. I have seen things myself that cannot be explained but I know what I have seen. My family was there and they know what I witnessed because they got their proof later on even though it took about 13 or 14 years. So I have learned from personal experience to keep your mind open to what other people believe to be true. I believe that there are many different dimensions and sometimes we are lucky enough to have our own paths cross with them. A legendary creature the Faun made an appearance years ago in my local town one night. Ever since I was little I kept hearing stories about this guy I know claimed to have encountered one going to his aunt's house one night. Some people would laugh about it and others would say they didn't know what to believe. I finally met him one day when I was about 17, he is about ten years older than me. I asked him about it and you could see the fear in his eyes like it was just yesterday even though it occurred back when he was teenager. Not only that but his whole demeanor changed and was shaking as he told me that he didn't like to talk about it because people made fun of him ever since saying he was on drugs when it happened. But he said that night he wasn't even drunk. It was around midnight and his aunt lived down a dirt road and he was walking over there to spend the night. Just as he got to the bottom of the hill he saw what he thought at first was man a few feet away. Then the thing stood up and he realized it wasn't because it was too tall and from the waist down was like a goat. He said at first he didn't know what to think he just stood there staring at it in disbelief, then he heard it breathing heavily and noticed it was staring right back at him. He said the thing charged towards him and ran as fast as he could through the woods. He said he didn't stop until he got to the cemetery on the other side of the woods where his family lived. He said the next day he went back during the daylight so he could look for tracks. The only thing left behind were foot prints similar to deer but bigger. He swore to me that this was true and I didn't for one second doubt him because I am an empath and I could feel his fear. Then he told me about another lady from town that saw the same thing a couple of years later about 10 miles down the road on the interstate. I finally asked her about it the night before New Years at a local bar and she said that she knew what she saw but she really didn't know how to describe it. Even though we were at a bar this lady was not drinking becaue she was there with her husband and she was the dd. When she saw it she said that she and a coworker were on their way to work early one morning when they saw this thing step out of the woods. She said that she slammed on brakes and asked her coworker if he saw what she saw and he said yes that he didn't say anything because he thought he was imagining it and didn't want her thinking he was crazy. She said the thing stood there staring at them and looked like it was holding something in its arms. She didn't get a clear look at what it was holding. Then after it realized that they saw it, it turned around and went back into the woods. She said that she floored the gas pedal and did not stop till they got to work. She said that she kept asking her coworker "What was that?" All he could say was he didn't know and that it was not human. I asked her if it looked like a Faun and she had no clue what I was talking about. I kept giving examples like Narnia, and so forth but all she kept saying was I don't know, I've never seen Narnia. I asked her how did it stand and she said that its knees did not bend the way ours do that they went backwards like a dogs. I asked her if it had any clothes on and she said that she didn't see any but it was covered in hair. She said that whatever she saw that day was not human but its face reminded her of a human but distorted. She even said that she has talked with her co worker about it every time she runs into him since it was years ago and they no longer work together. But it's like I've always said never doubt the impossible. Has anyone else had a similar experiance?

Secondly, it does sound like a faun, and the legend of those comes from Europe in the middle ages, I did a bit of research so here it is.

The Goatman is a Homonid cryptid reported to be living in the United States of America. It is a Hybrid creature; part man and part goat. Some claim it is a relative of Bigfoot. Its appearance is similar to the satyrs of Greek mythology (of which Pan is one), the Devil, and the horned men seen in cave paintings.

The Goatman of Maryland is often associated with Governor’s Bridge Road, Lottsford Road and Fletchertown Road, in Prince George's County, and with the nearby Glendale Hospital; the former site of a state asylum. It has reported to have attacked a number of witnesses and to have damaged property. It has also been reported to have killed family pets.

Appearance:

Typically, witnesses describe the Goatman as being a tall fur covered hominid with a human torso and arms, the horns and hind legs of a goat, and a quasi human face.It is similar to the Lake Worth Big foot but is reportedly more goat-like, and less human, in appearance.

Witnesses have reported hearing the Goatman calling out using a series of high pitched squeals.

History:

Reports of the Goatman began in 1957, with sightings occurring in Upper Marlboro and Forestville, Prince George's County, Maryland. From there, sightings spread to other states; with reports of the Goatman being made as far south as Texas in the 1960s, Washington and California during the 1980s, and as far north as Ontario, Canada, during the 1990s

Alleged sightings now been reported in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington. The largest concentration of these sightings has been around Bowie, Maryland.

Urban Legends:
Since the 1970s, the Goatman has become the subject of a number of popular Urban myths in Maryland and beyond. Myths vary, but the Goatman preying on courting couples in a similar fashion to the Hook legend, or attacking cars parked at the side of the road, are both common themes. It has also become part of the Urban Legend of “Crybaby Bridge” (Governor’s Bridge Road, Prince George's County). Florida sightings are sometimes attributed to the Skunk ape, another Florida myth.

Urban Myths often put secret genetics programs forward as a possible source of the Goatman. Experiments by the Federal Government and the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Maryland have both been suggested as possible Goatman origins. There is no evidence to support either.

Recently it has been rumored that there has been a sighting of the goatman in Silverton, TX

Hope that helps!

Fauns and satyr mythology date back at least a couple of millennia before the Middle Ages to Classical Greek and the Near East.

lol- whoah, all my life i thought "goatman" was just a local legened cooked up by my family or locals where i grew up in texas- but since i joined this website i noticed a few posts on the forum about the same subject. most of the post or people that write on this subject are from the southern areas of the u.s. and everyones story of the legened are similar (i.e.-how he looks, attacks and where he lives)

where i grew up there was a bridge in denton tx (old alton bridge) that he lived under-and if you go there at midnight, park on the bridge with the car running headlights on-honk three times, and supposedly the car dies or something when he gets close....if the car dont start hell get ya and eat you under the bridge.. the same for lovers too, if your making out-loose track of the time he'll sneak up and get ya! kinda like hookman or mothman i suppose

its a creepy bridge though-in the outskirts of town, there a hell of a lota urban legeneds and folklore.

lo lolololol- i did a google search on it, it linked back to u-m http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum...=60089&st=0
Please Explain
This sounds like a relative of bigfoot.
Very dangerous this type, female type of this usually abducts male human being.
I know one survivor of this abduction. He was imprisoned on top of the tree.
He just managed to trick this thing and escaped.
Believe me? No? ok!

First of all I wanna thank you for welcoming me to this forum. I also wanna thank you for all the information you gave me. I have heard of some of the same information. Other theories that I have heard of is that they are the creation of the Anunnaki when they first came here. The theory was that during their pursuit of the perfect slave they mixed their dna with the animals already on this planet, man being one of the creations, therefore producing many crossbreeds. Other theories are that they come from another dimension. One interesting story that I read was a man came in contact with one and asked it why no one ever sees them anymore and the being simply stated that humans no longer believed in them so there was no need to show itself.
