OK I will try again as my first prev post got moved and is not getting any replies.
My Mum has been complaining of being kept awake at night by what she says are low voices or sounds which appear to be coming from our "infamous" basement. The other night we both sat in the dark and listened and she kept saying did you hear that listen did you hear it again? Honestly it took me severla straining attempts to hear and even had to get her to replicate what it was she was hearing. She can even hear it above her ear plugs? No jokes I thought it was something in her ears or something when she said that!
Anyways, I listened carefully and sure enough I could hear what sounded like distant humming or droning sound. Mum said sometimes it sounds like voices but you cant make out what they are saying. She said it sounds distant like if a tv is on low or something. I mentioned infrasound and got the thread moved so I am interested if anyone has any ideas or comments would it be worthwhile setting a tape player up??

Could you let us know why the basement is "infamous"? it might be a good idea to set up a tape recorder, see if you get anything down there. Take some photos too and see if you can find anything

I have to agree. If they are disembodied voices, then they will record. If it is merely a humming sound, that will also record. Either way, it should help you to figure out the primary cause for the noises.

Worth a try will let you know what i find or hear? unsure.gif Do a search for threads i have posted and you can see some of the stories.

It's difficult to tell by going thru your search, but I get the impression that this presence is getting stronger. I read where someone saw an orb-- your sister, I believe. We saw something similar also, it was lime green, no tail, and big as a soccar ball (tad smaller). It was in mid air near the corner of the wall.. Me and my daugher just stood there and looked at it so long until we got tired of looking at it, and went to bed. I bring that up b/c it was after that point that we started to get more blatent signs of something there.

What you describe sounds remarkably like things I heard in my mother's house when I was younger. My mum's house (I realise now) was rife with elemental and poltergeistal activity.

One of the things I experienced was hearing low murmuring, or what I thought was two people having a hushed conversation in the living room below my bedroom. I heard it many times and often would go down to check that nobody had left the TV on, only to find the door shut and the lights off and nobody there. At first it was very unsettling, but it happened so often we got used to it. I say 'we' as 3 out of 4 family members heard it over a period of months/years.

I would wonder, if the fact that your mother hears it and someone else has difficulty hearing it, says something about the event - is it something internal to her? Hmmm.

Hello Spirit2,

I guess the best place to start would be asking questions, LOL.

Is your parents home an attached home or close to others. (Sorry if you covered these questions in other another thread but without searching hundreds of pages....I did search through a few of your posts and although I did read a lot of your sightings/experiences didn't see anywhere that you had mentioned the physical nature of your house.)

Do you know the age of your home? What is it next too? Woods, water, power lines, school/s, park, other houses, hospital, church?
Have you or anyone in your family ever done a search on the home (if it's an older home and if your parents own it, the deed will state who the previous owners were.) If it is a newer home you'll still be able to search the deed or go to the library and look up the house/location to see what the history of the area is.

I do think that the person that suggested that you go and photograph the basement and areas in the house that seem to have the most activity is a good idea as well as setting up a tape recorder.

Coldethel was correct is asking if the wiring had been checked or to check and see if there is a lot of electric activity in the area it can cause people to react and have strange experiences. Neither she nor I mean any offense by this.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Might start keeping a journal of the experiences in the home to see if there are times when the activity is the most heavy.

Regards,
Mabon.

Hello Mabon.
Our house sits between two other houses but they are about 20 feet away from ours on either side. No power lines or anything like that as it is an older neghborhood. House was built in the early 50s. Across from us is a med sized park. I did take pics befre but other than orbs shwing up nothing out of the ordinary.Thought about a tape recorder but didnt do it last night. Mum said that she didnt hear it last night when she got up this morning.

I wonder if the the ground under the foundations is hollow or if there is a storm drain/underground spring that runs by, might be worth trying to find out. This of course wouldn't necessarily answer things of there was hmm.gif but could be amping the noise of whatever is.

Does your mother have hearing problems by any chance? Tinnitus can cause a ringing in the ears, and TMJ, is a condition where the cartilage from your ear canals grows against your lower jawbone due to bone loss. It can cause hearing distortion and loss, as well as humming or droning sounds and pain.

The reason I'm asking is because I have TMJ and late at night when it's quiet, I can hear a low droning noise that will eventually turn into what sounds like voices talking when I concentrate on something else, i.e. TV, the Internet whatever.
Then, when I become conscious and aware of the voices and try and hear what they're saying it turns back into a drone or humming sound.

Other than that I'd be trying to snag some EVP. original.gif

You might want to set up a tape recorder even on a quiet night just to see if it catches anything any way. Best if it a self-activating kind. Have you done a search at the library. All you have to do is show interest in history of the area and the library staff will love you. LOL at least the ones here do. They may be able to point out times of interest specific to your home.

The park might be some of the noise depending when it is shut down of an evening. Could be a great hang out for people to go there after hours?

I agree with Anvil that was one of the things that I was wondering about the water.

Regards,
Mabon.

Sounds really scary do you have any recordings? grin2.gif

You mention self activating kind? What are these? We only have regular cassette cd players here.

My ears are the opposite, I hear to well. I can hear the real high frequencies. I can even hear a dog whistle and it can really be quite aggravating when trying to rest. Most definitly get her ears checked, just to rule that possibility out and to be sure.

You can buy a sound activated hand held recorder for a fairly cheap price. It only comes on if there is noise to activate it, that way you don't waste tape or batteries. You can find them at Wlamart or Radio Shack, places like that.
Mabon
Here is an example, http://www.selfrelianceresources.com/selfr...versacorder.htm. Go for one in your price range. A recorder that is activated by sound. You don't have to be in the room with it.

Warm regards,
Mabon.

What feeling do you get when you are in the basement or even going down there?
spirit2
Hmm cant really say it fells "ok" sometimes though you fell like somethings watching you. Mum heard the same noises again at 630am. The last feeling I had was of someone standing watching over my shoulder as it got quite cold while I was working on a project in the workshop. I could feel a constant cold breeze on me and defiantely heard something go "Hmm" as if they were looking over my shoulder to see what I was doing. I felt the cold spot before and one afternoon I was alone in the house and got so fed up with it I said either show yourself or leave me alone and it suddenly got noticably warmer.
Mithra
why dont you try to get your cat or dog if you have any down to the basment along with you, and focus on there reaction, if they see a sudden move or anything. Animals can see spirits.
spirit2
Thanks but we dont have any pets. When we used to go away on holidays, my sister would come over to check the house but would send the black lab down to the basement first before going down. She hates the basement at my parents house as she saw an older man sitting in the chair and has also seen other things.

When you gave the ultimation it chose to leave,... this suggests that they're simply co-existing and there's nothing negative sounding about this. The question is are you comfortable to have them around or not? You have the authority to ask them to leave as you've all ready shown original.gif

That's a good start, so you know one of them is an older man. Often spirits are just going about there every day thing, they aren't always around for a reason or purpose.

Interestingly and I dont think I have mentioned this yet, the park across the street used to be a cemetary.....
