First, before I go any further, I'll tell you my source is from Alex Jones webpage. I think everybody knows that he is a nutjob, but I thought I would at least read the article before I dismissed it as his usual hooey. Anyway, I found this interesting nonetheless, and thought I would get your opinions on this.

RFID Tags in New US Notes Explode When You Try to Microwave Them

Adapted from a letter sent to Henry Makow Ph.D.

Want to share an event with you, that we experienced this evening.. Dave had over $1000 dollars in his back pocket (in his wallet). New twenties were the lion share of the bills in his wallet. We walked into a truck stop/travel plaza and they have those new electronic monitors that are supposed to say if you are stealing something. But through every monitor, Dave set it off. He did not have anything to purchase in his hands or pockets. After numerous times of setting off these monitors, a person approached Dave with a 'wand' to swipe why he was setting off the monitors.

Believe it or not, it was his 'wallet'. That is according to the minimum wage employees working at the truck stop! We then walked across the street to a store and purchased aluminum foil. We then wrapped our cash in foil and went thru the same monitors. No monitor went off.

We could have left it at that, but we have also paid attention to the European Union and the 'rfid' tracking devices placed in their money, and the blatant bragging of Walmart and many corporations of using 'rfid' electronics on every marketable item by the year 2005.

Source and full article here.

I don't know anything about RFID tags, so I was curious. Why is there a need for them in currency? Isn't it some type of tracking device? If this is true, why would there need to be tracking devices in money, or is it just a way to make counterfeiting harder?
jaylemurph
It's an anti-counterfeiting device.

...but why would you microwave money?

Hi, and welcome to the wonderful world of "We wanna control YOU". You microwave the money with rfids in them to make them explode and expose the tag or rfid. Counterfeiting does sound like a reasonable excuse, but after realising the chips or tags which are suppose to protect against counterfeiting track you and your money, it sparks one to ask why do you need to track something in order to make counterfeiting impossible. You wouldnt be able to counterfeit a Rfid'd bill, mainly because you would'nt be able to duplicate the rfid that's within the bill. But being able to track the money is totally unessisary and sparks privacy issues. I wouldnt want someone to be able to know where I go everyday, but its now possible because of what's in the money. The nature of our society is that we need money in order to live comfortable lives and not be homeless, so because such is the case, everyone who values they're living conditions will have money; so thats everyone, but everyone who holds money is being tracked.

Well, cash is now traceable, but the question is ...by who and why?

An unnecessary method that presents risks for counterfeiting. They should just switch to card money.

So then YOU BELIEVE the story you read at Alex Jones's website is what your telling us.
otherwise you would have no fear of microwaving a 20 dollar bill try a 10 dollar bill then?
It is apprent that RFID's are in everything we posess nowadays including our money
this is simply a way for them to keep you from moving large amounts of cash out of the country

why do we need RFID chips in our money? next thing you know theyll have our coins
planted with little transmitters too.well if the story is just a hOAX then someone should be able to Microwave a bill right?
Cmon all you brave souls its just media Hype Alex Jones made it up

What happened when you did it?
Spiritchaser
Actaully I believe the story and am un-willing to lose 20 dollars so i wont do this
But for those of you who ferverently support the Federal Government and despise
Alex Jones it should come easy for .I mean Alex Jones is a Nutcase right? and
hes a Conspiracy theorist .Surely The federal Government wouldnt place Chips
in our money to track it would they?

so then theres nothing to lose if you dont believe the story right?

Other than $20, of course.

You seem to have the same black/white attitude as some others before you: if you dislike Alex Jones, you must 100% trust and support the government. This, of course, is a crock. I dislike Alex Jones and think that Dubya is possibly the worst president our country has ever had.
Spiritchaser
so then you believe there is an RFID chip in the Bill or you would simply pop it in the microwave and shut me up!!
so it seems most of us actually are believing this story dosent it? I mean as i say if its not true, there is NOTHING to lose
you say 20 dollars. which leads me to believe that you think there is a large enough chance that this is true ,that your
un-willing, as i am, to try this. Is anybody here of the mindset that this is all BUNK?If so will you try the Microwave?
enquiring minds want to know
phunk
Why do you think that RFID is the only reason a bill would burn? The ink contains metals, it will get hot in a microwave, RFID or not.

Took the words out of my fingertips.
jaylemurph
Well, it should work for any denomination above a $2 bill.
I know there's metal in the strip -- and that hot paper will catch alight eventually. Not to mention I value my money, so no nuking bills. And I see no evidence the government is going to the trouble of tracking my spending. I mean, most of my transactions are with a debit card; it seems to me it'd be easier just to hack the bank's computers than set up a complicated bill-tracking system. But then I don't live in paranoiac fear of the Bad Evil Guvv'mint, either.

Furthermore, after watching Jones' 'documentary' about Bavarian Grove, I found him to be (at best) ill-informed and lacking credibility. I wouldn't trust much he says.

If there is a possibility that a 20 dollar bill is going to look like that in the picture, then of course im not going to do it. I am sane, you know. But I am willing to test someone else's 20 dollar bill though wink2.gif.
