Night before last I awoke screaming again. This time an elderly Asian woman whose throat had been cut was standing at my bedside very angry at me. She pounded her fist on my C-Pap machine and I leaned toward her and put my hands through her. I waved them around several times and she would not go away. I did not attempt conversation as I was very scared by her appearance and level of anger. My son came running into my room (as some of you know, the screaming is a common occurance.) I lied and told him it was a bad dream from the book I had been reading. He then asked what was wrong with my "breathing machine". It read error and would not work properly. Of course the skeptic in me says that there was an error with the machine, which interfered with my breathing and caused the episode. If I did not have the history I have, I could possible believe that.

Don't read any scary books anymore. It can generate nightmares or hallucinations.

How do you know she was angry at you? Did she say something?

Yeah, so can lack of oxygen to the brain.

Really? Hadn't thought of that. The fact was, I was reading Time mag. and while current world events are frightening, I only said I was reading something scary as to not scare my son.

The c-pap heater was not working, however, I was still getting oxygen. If you read my other posts, you would understand a bit more. Thank you for your reply though.

This is a good question. I am not certain that she was angry at me. She said nothing that I could understand, ie throaty noises. I guess it was the intensity, look on face, and body motions. It did not last long enough for me to enquire further, and honestly, I was to freaked out.

The way I understood it from the original post, you said that the machine wasn't working properly. The sole purpose of positive airway pressure is to keep the airways open. If it wasn't functioning properly, then chances are... your lungs weren't getting enough oxygen, which resulted in hallucinations.

If you are familiar with the c-pap machine, it has a water compartment that rests on a heater which controls the amount of moisture you breath in. I sometimes sleep with this turned off. My airways were open. My machine is "in the shop" and I will not have it tonight. I understand your skepticism and often share in that. However the c-pap incident does not explain away everything else that has happened. I think you can click on my name to see my other posts. This should explain what I am talking about. Thanks for your information.

Hello T.
Wow! what an encounter! I would have had to change myself and the bed.

I know that it is hard to remain calm because the encounter was frightening but you have to try. What ever it is can't hurt you unless you let them. Be it a very vivid dream or really and truly a ghost. If you are having these encounters perhaps there is a reason. You might be over worked and they are nothing but very vivid dreams, you might be a medium or it's your house. Somehow you have to try and find out for yourself which it is...
I don't remember if the experiences have happened to you always or if they seem to be tied to the home you are currently in. If they started with the home then do a little background research on the place. Library or Courthouse is great for history of the owners and local events.
How is the dream journal going?
Hang in there,
Mabon.

Sounds very much like what happens when someone is suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea--They stop breathing without realizing it, and can cause some disturbing hallucinations. a possible suggestion to the experience.
