I thought this was interesting and I would share. It's a big image so here is the site.

Does this seem authentic? Or is it something that can't be proven?
MissMelsWell
oooo, very cool find Empress! I've never seen a matrix like that. Totally neat-o! I think according to mythology, it looks like it's fairly accurate, I've just never seen it in such a comprehensive table. That's worthy of bookmarking!

From all the studies I've seen... this is the most acurite and detailed family tree of the greek gods I've seen yet.

Awsome find!

GoddessWhispers
I agree. I like that each block links to more information. This is one of those rainy day links. Cupa tea, and nothing but time. blush.gif

It's interesting, the Chaos origin, for the Greek pantheon. I think of chaos theory and physics , when I see that field at the top of the chart, and how it's said the erratic orbits cause resonances that keep the order of the planetary bodies, in motion. So, like the pantheon, order is born from chaos.

Ok, that's a stretch.
Walking away now. happy.gif

Glad you guys like it! It was the first time I had seen anything like this myself. I was surprised at all the....interfamily love going on laugh.gif.

Interfamily stuff is very common back then. You should see the Egyptian Deities family tree.. *shudders*
GoddessWhispers
True. Unfortunately there were so many Egyptian Deities, that particular god/dess family tree would be huge. Though, I'm still looking for something like that in the OP. tongue.gif

Speaking about Egyptian mythology, this I just had to share. (speaking before about planetary chaos theory being analogous to the Greek myths) The Hall of Records Love that site. original.gif
lil gremlin
great find, definate bookmark. cheers. grin2.gif

as it says on it some myths vary, depending where u are in greece...but this is the most complete model ive seen.

I used to love the Tufts University "Perseus Server" that was located at http://www.perseus.tufts.edu

Unfortunately, the last few times I've been there the server has thrown a DNS error. Perseus was an online database of all things Greek (and a lot of Roman and Egyptian too) mythology, art, culture, history, language, etc... I hope they bring it back, it was a ton of fun to spend hours and hours on.

wow... that brings back memories... i've seen this for years in my nightmares... lol

in 7th grade english... we had to write that whole thing out by hand... and read every story about every single person/character/god/goddess in Greek history... which i hated then...

now, not so much... lol... i actually have a ton of books on various beliefs of other cultures... nw that i think about it... my personal library is pretty extensive...

No kidding! tongue.gif The State of Delaware owes it's main highway , called "Dupont Highway" , that is the main road through the entire tiny State, to the Dupont family. The Dupont family is enormously rich, with a huge legacy that includes the construction decades ago of the Dupont Hospital. Wherein was secreted all the babies born to the family, from inbreeding, that didn't quite turn out, shall we say right enough to bring to the Cotillion!? blink.gif Blue bloods. Bred because they literally wanted to keep the blood lines strong and not water them down with the lineage of the common people. And so, they bore to life, those less stable than the common people, they despised.

Some would call that Karma. Me? I've been through Delaware, I say they should have made friends and built main highways to name after them. laugh.gif

lol... actually the mythology class was new that year... and everybody wanted it... but i had some pull thumbsup.gif

i had gotten in so much trouble the year before as a sophmore... that i knew the Dean (mrs. dumas)... and she knew me by name and face... lol

not only that... the new principal was my 9th grade english teacher (mrs. truesdale) for half the year... and the mythology teacher was my 9th grade english teacher (mr. leggett) for the other half the year...

lol... so i made sure i got that class... guaranteed in thumbsup.gif
MissMelsWell
Man, we got no mythology in High School or Jr. High school, but did learn a little bit of childish mythology in grade school. My jr. and high schools didn't even offer Latin.

The scary part is the High school I went to ALWAYS ends up on the Top 25 Best High Schools in the whole united states including PREP schools.
