I think this is really the only place i can post this without people calling me crazy.
Do you believe in the curse of bad luck in broken mirrors? Have you personally broken one yourself and had bad experiences?
I'm not into all that superstition stuff.... but...
I've broken a mirror in my house 4 times over the past year or so. It really wasn't until today that I've noticed any sign of a bad luck... if it really is. It started as a normal day whereas my friends called me out to play some football. So i went and played a few games with some random guys and apperantely i was tackled down while jumping up to catch the ball for a touchdown (i did happen to get a touchdown

=) ) but at the cost of a nosebleed, biting on my own lips, and a broken phone (LG 8500 for those who are curious). The game ended right after though since everyone had to go home with me having blood all over my face. The only lucky part about this was that the water fountain in the park was working so i was able to get some blood stain off and someone had a stack of tissue with them for me to wipe some of it off.
Oh oh, and the week before, i lost my wallet at the same football field with about $50 in it. I was gonna get my hydroxycut with that

. Perhaps i dropped it while i was biking home or someone stole it from my pants when i took it off. Whatever the case, its been a week of bad luck for me... I'm sure i had tiny bad experiences during this past year... but nothing as bad as this...

The only bad luck I've had with broken mirrors is cleaning up the mess.

I voted "no" but, still, why take a chance on it just to break one? As I recall, it is supposed to bring the breaker seven years bad luck because you are presumably breaking your image. As to why it's seven years and not six? Eh, I have no idea.
On the more realistic side, even if it is not bad luck, you could still cut yourself on the broken glass. Either way, I'd opt to just not break them.
That "badluck" you reported probably has more to do with playing tackle football without the necessary safty equipment, hence more an issue of foolishness than bad luck. No offence intended though, I've done it too. Not lately though. It seems that pain hurts more now and I don't heal as fast as I used to! Ha-ha!

Although there is a noticeable irony in getting seven years bad luck as seven is considerably a lucky number.

As for me, I broke one ages ago but there was never any noticeable bad luck. If you were to receive bad luck, basically, nearly all good things should have a negative outcome so nearly everything has to go wrong that you would enjoy to do for seven consecutive years. So it's hard to believe getting seven years bad luck from an every day, man-made object being broken.

I used to break one mirror roughly every seven years, not on purpose though lol.
I can't say I've noticed any more bad luck than I would have had anyway. Strange superstition though isn't it lol.

I've broken LOADS of mirrors by mistike. Had them leaning up against something and they slipped down and all that. I make my own fate. The mirror slipped and broke because it wasnt nailed to the wall and i put it in a silly place m hm. A few broken mirrors ago, i did a FABULOUS peice of art with the peices, and now i like to keep peices of broken mirror wrapped in newspaper and stored in my creative drawers for when i want to make something. Broken mirror looks incrsdible when stuck onto normal mirror in shapes or shards, although i prefer shards

NICE ONE!!!

Ive broken loads of mirrors. I was always told to run water over one of the pieces to stop the bad luck. Probably a load of rubbish but i always do it.

In my house with 4 little ones running around, it's easy for
anything to get broken let alone mirrors....
As for mirrors, we've broken our fair share.....I don't worry about it at all......I know about the supposedly bad luck but I make a conscious effort to ignore it......I would be paranoid 24/7 if I didn't......
My mum completely freaked out though when my son broke a mirror at her house.......She still blames us for my sister's broken engagement......

I think if you believe you are getting bad luck from walking under a ladder, breaking a mirror, or seeing a black cat you can manifest it upon yourself. I think its the power of suggestion here. I mean I have seen a black cat, and the same night been in a car accident, but ive also seen a black cat on other occasions and have had nothing happen so....

nothing on cats or ladders just mirrors =)
again i tend to stay away from such beliefs but this presence of... something much like the grim reaper is behind me ish.... isn't making my consciousness feeling assured.

I'm amused - me too! I wonder if the 'seven years' legend thing happens to be a statistical likelihood to scare people - most people break x things every x years anyway

I got a minor 3 days after.
Lol yeah, 3 days.
I'm no alcoholic though.

I've stepped on mirrors 5893247328957423848 bazillion times. Dunno about the bad luck thing, I haven't really noticed anything bad happening after a broken mirror... So yeah.

I had a mirror fall on me when I was 13, and I was more concerned about my 7 years bad luck than I was about any bodily harm suffered. I've had my fair share of crap days since then, but no more than most people so I certainly don't attribute it to that unfortunate incident

I was told that if you break a mirror you get 7 yrs bad luck.....but to stop this bad luck you have to spin round 7 times (1 for each year I guess) and then spit on the floor. An English thing perhaps?
And regarding the black cat thing: I don't believe in the walking in your path thing. A few days back I had one walk over my path and then 3 days after that my bike was fixed - good luck
I never walk under ladders though, especially wooden ones....in case I accidently kick it or it falls. I'm sure people have seen the compensation ad where the old bloke was given "The wrong ladder" and it fell. If he was a ladder user surely he should know which type to use....idiot!

I'd love to break a mirror on purpose, see if anything happens, if I had the guts to..

I've broken my fair share of Mirrors to date and I'm still alive and kicking. My grandpa once told me you get 7 Years badluck for breaking a mirror, which can be turned into good luck by breaking another.

Weird !! (Never tried it, maybe someone here as heard this same rumour).
