Something I never heard about till I found this article. Kinda interesting, sounds fake, but still very interesting. alien.gif

This is not fake, it really happend in New Delhi. A Lot of people were injured by this monkey man, it was in the news for almost a year. The monkey man is still a mystery.
bathory
actually, i'm pretty sure the people injured by the so called monkey man were trampled in the riot that occured when people caught news of the monkey man in the area:)

If memory serves me correctly, someone identified a downed weather baloon as the monkeyman (how that happened i dunno) and people started to panic and several people were killed in the crush.

"Monkey Man". Sounds so, so original...
GhostShark
Well it does sound more plausible that the "monkey man" broke your arm rather than saying you were injured in a riot besides it makes good cocktail party convo...
Maybe easily mass hysteria but it could be an experiment gone wrong, or anarchronism organism....
Coconino_County
I recall this incident too. during the time the story was fresh, it was a popular gag on Letterman here in the united states. I heard that the people who were injured by the monkey man were people who had heart attacks after seeing him, which is similar to the crushed riots injury. Either way, there were no reports of the monkey man physically injuring someone with his own might.

18:00 (AEST) MASS hysteria is sweeping across India's capital after reports of a superpowered monkey man, with hairy body and sharp metal claws, attacking people as they sleep on their roofs in the sweltering heat.

During May, dozens of individuals were said to have been hurt in its attacks, and two took fatal leaps because they heard the "monster" was nearby. In daily newspapers, photos of scratched victims upset New Delhi residents.

Does anyone know anything about this?
final flight
I heard about this guy a few months ago. It sounds like a hoax to me. Or some crazy man in a monkey suit. wacko.gif
PrettyAndCorrupt
I have thought about it for a while.
I chalk it up to wild monkies..or rabid monkies, diseased monkies, etc. There are tons of monkies that roam New Dehli and other areas in India..
It seems to me this could be the best explanation. Weird..but I dont know.
I do not think it is simply "mass hystaria" as people have come with injuries that are definatly from an animal. But apparently alot of the victims have come from rural villiages and could be exaggerating the tales.
Nevertheless it is a strange occurance.

I thought I started this topic? wacko.gif blink.gif huh.gif

So you thought it necessary to spew an obscenity to define your confusion? blink.gif

Yes, you did start a thread about the monkeyman, but since it has been a topic of discussion and a subject of more than one thread in the past already, I decided to merge your thread with one started only three months ago. You asked if anyone knew about the subject in your first post, what better way to provide an answer for you than add it to a similar thread. Whenever possible, duplicate threads about the same subject are 'merged' to help maintain a sense of continuity and continued interest on a specific topic in a single post, while also helping to cut down on unslightly clutter and multiplicity.
Try to keep that in mind next time you start a thread and find that it has been moved, your initial reaction was decidedly crude and unpleasant, not very ladylike at all. tongue.gif

Did I ever claim to be ladylike?
Didnt think so.
PrettyAndCorrupt
I just wanted to apologize, that last post I sounded like a total cat.
For the record..I am not ladylike..never tried to be..I have a sailors mouth and when I am agitated it becomes worse.

I think this was blown out of proportion a bit..as I didnt even spell out the curse words.

Anyhow..I realize from time to time (perhaps moreso than never) I come off as rude and catty...and I am truely not that way original.gif

Whoa!...i remember this inccident like it was tommorow. For one thing i live in New delhi, and the kind of exicitement it caused was unimaginable. There's one thing unique about india...unsual things and happenings arnt reported, but when they are, there blown out of propotion. In fact i'll call it the Monkey Man syndrome.. grin2.gif
Comming back to the sightings..intially it was reported that an ape like creature was terrorising the local residents in ghaziabad..a suburb of delhi. Most would have read the reports in the links provided above..so i wont go into details..but there is no mystery behind this!
Initially someone might have been attacked by a langoor(a black faced monkey which can be pretty big) at night, and he would have reported it that an evil entity had attacked him which resembled a monkey. In small towns and communities when someone reports something like this, he becomes an instant celebrity. Hundereds would ask him to talk about his attack and would be given a somewhat special status for a few days. So its not suprising that a few more would reporting being attacked by the alledged monkey man. There would also be a few pranksters who get kicks out of posing as the creature and scaring people..again, the whole thing died down after a couple of months, and noone has heard or been attacked from the monkey man since then.
Believe me, there aint no place in Delhi where he could hide, even if he wanted too wink2.gif

Wish the papers would concentrate on some real unexplained mysteries like the Jatinga's annual mass bird suicides rather than crap like this sad.gif
PrettyAndCorrupt
The bird suicides!!! I have heard about this..
Apparently it happened very recently...500 (or maybe 5000) pigeons suddly died!? Am I right?

Jatinga's Bird Mystery

PrettyAndCorrupt
Reuters reports from Guwahati, India: Hundreds of pigeons have died of a bacterial infection in an ancient temple in northeast India in the past two weeks, but doctors have ruled out bird flu as the cause of their death. Bhola Nath Sarma, spokesman of the hilltop Kamakhya temple in Assam, said around 1,500 of an estimated 5,000 pigeons had just dropped their heads and died. "They just turn disoriented, drop their head and die. It's getting worse every day and we are afraid the disease might infect visitors," Sarma said. Veterinary doctors who examined the birds said they were suffering from a common bacterial infection called septicaemia, which could be cured with antibiotics. "These birds are not infected by the bird flu," Dr. Abdul Mukit told Reuters on Feb 26, 2004. "But they are flying all around the temple, so it is impossible to inject medicine on all." Thousands of devotees visit the centuries-old stone temple to sacrifice pigeons, goats and buffaloes and offer their blood to the goddess of strength for their wellbeing. Some just set animals and birds free within the shrine instead of killing them. The large population of pigeons is mostly donated by devotees.

^That is what I had heard..I never knew anything about an infection though..I just brisked a headline and read "Birds drop dead in India." LoL

PrettyAndCorrupt
I dunno. I have taken a liking to the cartoonish monkey man. Kinda cute if you ask me.

The monkey man has the same powers as that of Springheeled Jack. Maybe 100 years later, after traveling all this time from Europe to the middle east, jack decided to start attacking people again.

Or it be Springheeled Jacks cousin or something. dontgetit.gif

Seriously, both monkey man and springheeled jack could jump really high, had a head like a helmet or something, and both had metallic like claws. The only thing monkey man is missing is the ability to shoot blue/red flames from his mouth.
